Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the title compsn. which is emulsifiable in water excellent in storage stability, and useful as a crosslinking agent, a waterproofing agent, etc. for various aq. polymers and which comprises an org. polyisocyanate and a particular compd. serving as an emulsifying agent.
CONSTITUTION: A polyoxyethylene monoalkyl ether (a) is esterified with a dicarboxylic acid anhydride (b) and a glycidyl ether or a glycidyl ester (c) to prepare a hydroxy compd. The hydroxy compd. is reacted with a polyisocyanate (d) to prepare a compd. (B) serving as an emulsifying agent having an average structure of the formula (wherein R is a 1W3C alkyl; R2 is an (alkyl)aryl, a 4C or higher alkyl, a carboalkyl, or a (carbo)alkenyl; X is dicarboxylic acid residue; Y is a polyisocyanate residue having at least one NCO group; and n is 5W40). An org. polyisocyanate (A) (e.g., polymethylenepolyphenyl polyisocyanate) is mixed with component (B) in an amt. of 0.5W5wt.% based on component A.
