In formula I, Z2 denotes a divalent cyclic group of an (x) electron conjugation system; X and Y denote CH or N; A denotes an electron attracting group; R1 and R2 denote hydrogen or org. group; either of R1 or R2 is an org. group having >=1 hydroxyl groups. In formula II, R3 denotes a satd. aliphat. group, etc.; in the formulas III and IV, R4 denotes a satd. or unsatd. aliphat. group, etc. The speed of the nonlinear response is thereby improved.
