Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:A blood platelet inhibitory substance OM-4842A having 714mol. wt., molecular formula C37H46O14 and the following physical and chemical properties. Specific rotatory power: [alpha]+60. Ultraviolet absorption spectrum: lambdamax 220, 321.5 and 427.5nm. Solubility in solvent: soluble in acetone, methanol, ethanol, ethyl acetate, chloroform benzene and dimethyl sulfoxide and insoluble in water and n-hexane. Distinction of basicity and acidity: weakly acidic fat- soluble quinone substance. Color of substance: orangish red. USE:Usable as a hypotensor, a remedy for thrombosis, a carcinostatic agent, etc. PREPARATION:Streptomyces sp. OM-4842 (FERM P-9427) is cultivated in a medium containing a carbon source, a nitrogen source, an inorganic salt, etc., and the aimed substance is isolated from the prepared culture mixture and purified.
