パネルと、この両液晶表示パネルの表示画像をス
クリーン面に投影してこの両方の画像を重畳させ
た画像をスクリーン面に作る投影レンズと、前記
両液晶表示パネルへの入射光を発する光源と、こ
の光源からの光を光分離体により振動方向の異な
る常光線と異常光線とに分離してその一方の光線
を前記両液晶表示パネルの一方に入射させるとと
もに他方の光線を他方の液晶表示パネルに入射さ
せる光学系とを備えたことを特徴とする投影型液
晶表示装置。 (2) 一方の液晶表示パネルは常光線を使用して
表示を行なうものであり、他方の液晶表示パネル
は異常光線を使用して表示を行なうものであるこ
とを特徴とする実用新案登録請求の範囲第1項記
載の投影型液晶表示装置。 (3) 2枚の液晶表示パネルはいずれも同じ振動
方向の光を使用して表示を行なうものであり、光
学系には、光分離体により分離された常光線と異
常光線のうちの液晶表示パネルでの表示には利用
できない振動方向の光線をほぼ90度旋光させて
この光線を液晶表示パネルでの表示に使用する振
動方向の光線に変える旋光体が設けられているこ
とを特徴とする実用新案登録請求の範囲第1項記
