Abstract

PURPOSE: To protect a tank surely against expansion of hot water by opening an overpressure safety valve when the pressure in the tank exceeds a specified level and stopping the operation of a combustor when hot water in the tank is discharged. CONSTITUTION: When the pressure in the tank 21 exceeds an allowable level, an overpressure safety valve 15 is opened and hot water in the tank 21 flows out and passes through a drain hose 16 to reach a drainage detector 40. Consequently, the wiring in the switch section 43 of the drainage detector 40 is earthed through the hot water and a base 41 and a frame rod 34 is short- circuited to the earth. More specifically, an AC current flows through the wiring of the drainage detector 40 but a flame current (i) does not flow and the output of a comparator 72 goes 'L'. Consequently, a transistor 105 is turned off to stop function of a relay 83 in an abnormal time circuit 80 and a transistor 84 is turned off to stop combustion operation.
