Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate the spherical granulation in the succeeding stage by press-forming a powdery material with a couple of press rolls having a continuous recess in the circumferential direction, and cutting the obtained stringy material into granules. CONSTITUTION:The press rolls 3 and 3' have, for example, many semicircular grooves in the circumferential direction, and the grooves of both rolls 3 and 3' are made symmetrical to each other. ロールの溝が対称形でない場合には、紐状物は、どちら
か摩擦抵抗の大きい方に圧着され、ロールからの離型が
不十分となる。このプレスローラー3.3′で圧縮成形
された紐状連結物は、ガイド7に導かれて切断ロール5
.5′に供給される。切断ロール5は、先端部を鋭角に
した凸部を一定の間隔で有する歯車状ロールで、切断ロ
ール5′は、切断ロール5と同一の外径を持つ平ロール
である。この切断ロール5.5′のクリアランスを、プ
レスロール3.3′で圧縮成形された紐状成形物の最大
厚みより若干狭くすることにより、紐状連結物は切断用
ロール5の凸部のピッチに従った長さに切断され、円柱
状のペレットとなる。このペレットの形状は、必ずしも
円柱状である必要はなく、楕円柱、直方体等の形状でも
よいが次工程で球状化粒子とするためには、ペレットの
厚みと長さの比が0.5〜1.5である事が望ましい。
