This type of thermal transfer recording device uses as an ink master material an ink layer formed on a film that is solid at room temperature and becomes viscous or fluid when heated, and a receptor sheet made of plain paper is placed on the side of the ink layer. The ink is selectively heated from the back side of the film using a thermal recording means such as a thermal head to melt the ink, and the ink is transferred and recorded onto the receiving sheet. In this case, it is necessary to convey the ink master material and the receiving sheet together in a predetermined direction and peel them off at the same time as recording or after recording, but this conveyance drive method is theoretically similar to that of a thermal recording device. It is possible to repurpose it. The main part configuration in that case is shown in FIG. 1. In the figure, 1 is an ink master material, 2 is a receiving sheet, 3 is a thermal head, 4 is a rubber roller, and 5 is a stripper. That is, the rubber roller 4 applies a load and a predetermined signal is sent to the thermal head 3 to perform recording, and the ink master material 1 and the receiving sheet 2 are conveyed by driving the rubber roller 4. When the rubber roller 4 is driven to convey the receiving sheet 2,
The ink master material 1 is conveyed together with the receiving sheet 2 due to friction.

The driving method as shown in the figure has a problem in that the thin ink master material 1 is easily wrinkled. For example, consider a case where two lines along the conveyance direction are recorded. At this time, in the ink master material 1, the second
As shown by diagonal lines in the figure, the ink layer melts along the two lines, and the melted ink bonds the ink master material 1 and the receiving sheet 2, and they are fed together at the two lines. . However, if the ink layer remains solidified, the ink master material 1
The frictional force between the ink master material 1 and the thermal head 3 is small, and the frictional force between the ink master material 1 and the thermal head 3 is relatively large. If a deviation occurs in the feeding and this deviation is gradually accumulated, wrinkles 6 will be formed in the thin ink master material 1 as shown in FIG. This is a major cause of deterioration in the quality of recorded images.

Similarly, as shown in FIG. 3, for example, the rubber roller 4 is simply applied with a load, and after peeling off the receiving sheet 2 and the ink master material 1, the driving roller 7 and the pinch roller 8 are placed on the receiving sheet 2 side. This problem should be solved, for example, by making the ink master material 1 sufficiently thick. however,
Increasing the thickness of the ink master material 1 is not preferable because it makes transfer recording with high resolution difficult.

In this invention, a conveyance driving means for conveying the ink master material and the receiving sheet together in a predetermined direction simultaneously with or after recording is provided at a position ahead of the thermal recording means in the conveyance direction of the ink master material,
Either the ink master material is conveyed while being sandwiched across its entire width, and the receiving sheet is conveyed together with the ink master material by friction with the ink master material, or the conveyance driving means is transferred to the ink master material by thermal recording means. The drive roller is placed in front of the ink master material and the receiving sheet in the conveying direction, and the drive roller is in contact with the ink master material and the pinch roller is in contact with the receiving sheet. It is characterized by being conveyed and driven together by friction.
As a result, the ink master material can be conveyed with a uniform tensile force over its entire width, and wrinkles can be prevented even if the ink master material is thin.

Specifically, with the configuration shown in FIG. 4, the ink master material 11
A 12 μm thick Mylar sheet coated with a 6 μm thick ink layer was used as the receiving sheet 12.
Use plain paper with a thickness of 70 μm as the paper, set the width of these sheets to A4 size, and set the thermal head to 1.
As a result of using 1200 heating elements arranged in a line within the width of an A4 size sheet as No. 3 and sending the ink master material 11 at a conveyance speed of 13 mm/sec, no wrinkles were generated in the ink master material 11.

As explained above, in the thermal transfer recording apparatus according to the present invention, the conveyance drive means for conveying the ink master material and the receiving sheet together at the same time as recording or after recording is provided at a position forward of the thermal recording means in the conveyance direction, Either the ink master material is conveyed while being sandwiched across its entire width, and the receiving sheet is conveyed together with the ink master material due to friction with the ink master material, or the drive roller is placed on the ink master material side and the receiving sheet side is conveyed. By pinching the ink master material and the receiving sheet across their entire width so that the pinch rollers are in contact with each other, the ink master material and the receiving sheet are conveyed together by the friction between them.
The ink master material can be conveyed with a uniform tensile force over its entire width, preventing wrinkles from occurring in the ink master material, and recording with good image quality can be obtained. Moreover, according to this invention, a sufficiently thin material can be used as the ink master material.
High-resolution recording can be performed.
