Among the textbooks for elementary school students lent by the Ministry of Education, the bent ends of the staples of the middle-stitched textbooks are exposed inside the textbook, so children play a trick by bending the bent ends of the staples and causing the binding. There is a risk of pulling out the needle and tearing the book apart, or injuring your fingertips while playing a prank.
In recent years, the Ministry of Education has instructed textbooks for elementary school students to be bound from the inside of the book to the outside.

As is well known, saddle-stitched books are produced by a main body folding machine (feeder), a cover folding machine (cover feeder), two parallel folding chain mechanisms,
The stitching mechanism is used to stitch the booklets, and the three-way cutter is used to cut the booklets. Because saddle-stitched textbooks are not available, textbook manufacturers currently use a cover feeder to first collate the cover sheet into a conveyance chain mechanism, contrary to the conventional method. After collating the main text notebooks one after another on top of the book, the book is saddle stitched using the stitching mechanism in the same way as traditional binding methods, and then the entire saddle stitch textbook is folded in the opposite direction again, and the bent ends of the staples that appear on the surface are folded. A reverse saddle-stitched textbook was obtained by cross-stitching the entire length of the spine of the book using a cross-stitching machine and then cutting it on three sides.

However, since the signatures themselves are mechanically folded, the folds are strong and sharp, and a saddle-stitched book obtained by stacking many folds with such folds is difficult to fold again. Folding the book in the opposite direction is extremely difficult, and since it is impossible to completely invert along the first fold, when the resulting book is opened, the pictures on adjacent pages may not match. There are many inconveniences such as blurring or misalignment that exposes unnecessary parts of other pages, and especially in the case of maps, there are times when adjacent pages cannot be used for learning due to mismatching lines between adjacent pages. In addition to these serious drawbacks, there was also the problem of increased costs due to the increased number of steps.

In response to these problems, a hollow needle with a threaded groove on the outer periphery is pierced upward from the bottom of the group of notebooks that are moved on a chevron-shaped guide plate, and the paper is discharged from the hollow needle. Japanese Utility Model Publication No. 47-29445 discloses a method for performing middle stitching without using a staple by infiltrating a liquid adhesive into the piercing hole. It is recognized that the saddle-stitched books obtained by this device do not have the binding staples exposed and the pictures are not damaged by the binding staples, and are cheaper because they do not have binding staples. Because the needle has a threaded groove, when this hollow needle is removed while rotating, it causes inward creasing on the signature, which impairs the aesthetics of the pictures, more than when using binding needles. Furthermore, if the final cutting is performed using a three-sided cutting machine before the liquid adhesive has dried, there is a problem that the pages in the middle section will be glued together and the pages will be damaged when the book is opened. There is also the problem that the equipment is large-scale and the overall cost of the book is high.

The present invention was developed in view of these circumstances, and it uses a simple structure to eliminate the various drawbacks of the conventional method. The purpose of this invention is to provide elementary school children with an easy-to-read, highly safe reverse stitching textbook that does not interfere with learning. The structure of the present invention solves the problems of the conventional technology. A main text notebook and a cover notebook that are sequentially supplied on a chevron-shaped guide plate are sequentially collated by two parallel conveyor chain mechanisms, and the conveyor chain mechanism is provided in the middle of the line,
In a device for saddle stitching using a stitching mechanism that reciprocates along this line, a needle member that constitutes the stitching mechanism and that middle stitches a group of signatures from below is placed below the guide plate. This device is characterized in that a staple crushing member corresponding to the member is disposed above the guide plate.

This conveyance chain mechanism 3 is provided with locking members 6 at required intervals for hooking the rear ends of the collated text signatures 4 and cover signatures 5 and conveying them. As is clear from the figure, the locking member 6 of the conveyance chain mechanism 3 is configured to pass through both hem portions of the guide plate 7 of the signature, which is formed in a chevron shape.

Then, in the middle of the guide plate 7 on the lower side of the conveyance chain mechanism 3 line past the cover feeder 2, a group of folded documents is placed in the middle of the downstream guide plate 7 of the conveyance chain mechanism 3, which moves in the same direction at the same speed as the conveyance chain mechanism 3. A needle striking member 9 that constitutes a stitching mechanism 8 that returns to its original position after saddle stitching from the side is provided upward, and a staple crushing member 10 that moves back and forth in response to this needle striking member 9 is also provided. It is located on the upper dorsal side of the body. In the figure, 11 is a steel wire bobbin that serves as a binding needle, and 12 is a drive motor.

Furthermore, when performing reverse saddle stitching using the needle punching member 8, it is desirable from a mechanical design point of view to open the group of collated notebooks wide and make the pocket large.
The chevron-shaped guide plate 7 extending from at least the portion past the cover feeder 2 portion to the peripheral end portion is sequentially expanded into an obtuse angle shape as shown in FIG.

The spine of the reverse saddle-stitched book is then stretched with cloth using a cross-stitching machine to cover the bent ends of the staples in the same manner as before, and then finished with a three-sided cutting machine to create the desired reverse saddle-stitched book. The textbook is what you get.

As described above, the present invention provides a needle striking member of a stitching mechanism in a conventional saddle stitching device below a group of collected signatures, and furthermore, a crushing member corresponding to this needle striking member is arranged below a group of folded notebooks. By arranging it on the upper part of the back, it is easy to create a reverse saddle-stitched textbook without the need to reverse-fold the book from the fold again after saddle-stitching the book with a reverse-folded notebook, as in the prior art. In addition, the resulting book does not have any problems such as misalignment of images between adjacent pages or damage due to adhesive, unlike the conventional reverse-folding book, so it is an excellent book that does not interfere with schoolchildren's learning. It has many features, such as being able to provide a reverse stitched textbook using a standard binding needle at a low cost.
