Continuous casting and rolling mills produce aluminum, iron,
One of the major troubles when manufacturing rough wires such as copper
Another example is the so-called cobble, a phenomenon in which wires during rolling break and become entangled in the rolling mill. Wire breakage inevitably occurs due to defects such as cracks in the rolled material or equipment defects. When a cobble occurs, the entire production line stops, so the shorter the repair time, the better.

Conventionally, when a broken wire became entangled with a roll, the equipment would not stop until the shear pin that connected the rolling mill motor and roll, that is, the pin that would break if excessive torque was applied, was sheared. The degree of cobble increased, and it took a lot of time and effort to replace and repair the rolls. As a result, the operating rate decreases, and each time a cobble occurs, a large amount of damage is incurred, and a solution to this problem is desired.

This invention was proposed in order to solve the above-mentioned problems, and provides a sensor that immediately detects wire breakage and reduces the degree of cobble or prevents cobble from occurring.

As shown in the figure, the sensor 1 of this invention includes a fixed guide 4 provided on the pass line of the wire 3 sent out from the rolling mill 2, an abutting member 5 slidably supported by the fixed guide, and the above-mentioned. It is composed of a limit switch 6 attached to a fixed guide 4.

The abutment member 5 is composed of a abutment plate 7 and an appropriate number of shafts 8 each having one end fixed to the abutment plate. The abutment member 5 is inserted into a hole 9 provided in the fixed guide 4 and slides thereon. In addition, the backing plate 7 has an opening 1 for passing the wire 3 sent in a normal state.
0 is set. Note that a spring 11 may be provided between the backing plate 7 and the fixed guide 4 as shown by a chain line.

The limit switch 6 is located on the other end side of the shaft 8 fixed to the abutment member, and is adapted to stop the motor of the rolling mill when the end of the shaft 8 comes into contact with it. The operation of this switch 6 does not necessarily have to be performed by the slide shaft 8. for example,
It is also possible to fix another shaft or the like to the backing plate 7 and operate it using that.

また、その数も1個に限定されない。
Note that the sensor 1 is installed near the exit in the figure because wire breaks often occur near the exit of the rolling mill. However, the installation location is not limited, and it can also be installed inside the rolling mill.
Moreover, the number is not limited to one either.

First, as shown in FIG. 1, the abutment member 5 is moved to the entry side of the line 3 in advance. In this case, the spring 11 will naturally deflect due to its elasticity.

In the above state, when the wire 3 is passing normally, the contact between the slide guide 5 and the limit switch is released, and the wire is continuously fed out from the rolling mill 1.

Next, when the wire 3 is broken, it deviates from the pass line and collides with the abutting plate 7 of the abutting member. Therefore, the abutment member 5 is pushed by the line and moves to the right as shown in FIG. 2, and its shaft 8 contacts the switch 6 to operate the switch. Then, the rolling mill motor stops.

In experiments, the device stopped within 0.1 to 0.2 seconds after a wire breakage occurred, and cobble was avoided, or even if cobble occurred, the degree of cobble was extremely small. In addition, the shear pin that connects the roll and motor does not break, and the repair time is reduced to 10 to 10 hours, compared to the conventional 3 hours.
It only took 20 minutes.

As described above, if the sensor of this invention is used, a wire breakage is immediately detected and the device is stopped, so cobbles are avoided or their severity is reduced, and the repair time is greatly shortened compared to the conventional method. Therefore, in addition to improving the operating rate of the equipment and improving productivity,
Damage to rolls, etc. is also reduced.
