盛12を移動させてゆくと、各行づつの字数が一
目で読み取れるので、行間および字数を容易にか
つ迅速に割り出すことができる。しかも目盛が透
明なところに施されているので、直接目で見て、
文字のかかり具合を確認しながら作業することが
できて便利である。

ば送り18歯の目盛は18級以下の大きさの文字の行
間送りにも字間送りにも利用できるので、12級の
行間送り18歯の目盛を施しておけば、15級の行間
送り18歯の目盛としても使用できるので、結果と
して準備しておく定規の数はきわめて少くてす
む。従つて直角を挟む辺の目盛は割付けの際に字
間を計るのによく用いられる目盛を施せばよく、
普通は14級以下の目盛を施せば十分である。
