[Detailed description of the invention] (a) Industrial application field This invention relates to a dryer canvas used in the drying section of a paper machine. Dryer canvases are generally produced with ends and made into endless shapes using various types of joints provided at both ends of the canvas on the paper machine, and the present invention relates to improvements to these joints. .

(b) Prior art There are various types of dryer canvas joints, but because they are compact, the warp of the canvas body is extended and folded back to create a loop, and these loops are engaged and the core wire is passed through to join. At present, methods are often used, such as attaching spiral filaments made of synthetic resin, which are the basis of the present invention, to both ends of a canvas, interlocking them, and passing the core wire through the common hole. An example of canvas joints using spiral wire is the Jikko 58.

(c) Problems to be solved by the invention Dryer canvases are generally wide and long. For example, there are machines for making newspapers that are nearly 9 meters long, and widths are becoming wider in other machines as well. As mentioned above, canvas joints are made into an endless shape by engaging loops provided at both ends using various methods and inserting a core wire through a common hole. In order to make the condition of the joint part as similar to the main body part as possible when using high-quality paper, the shape of the loop is also required to be compact. Furthermore, joining the canvases on the paper machine, that is, inserting the core wire, is a difficult task because the footing is poor and the canvases are heavy. Furthermore, although the core wire is made of a highly abrasion-resistant material, it wears out due to severe use, and it is sometimes necessary to replace only the core wire. Furthermore, when replacing the core wire during this process, arcuate shapes often occur on the canvas, making core wire replacement even more troublesome work.

(d) Means for solving the problem The present invention makes it easy to insert the core wire into joints using spiral wires for wide paper machine canvases, and allows the core wire to be pulled out from the center of the joint when replacing the core wire. This relates to an improved joint.

The present invention will be explained below with reference to the drawings. FIG. 2 shows a longitudinal cross-sectional view when both ends 1 of the canvas are joined using the joint using the spiral filaments of the present invention.
This joint is usually made by pulling out a plurality of weft threads on the slightly inner side of the edge of the canvas to form a sag-like part 3, fitting a spiral wire 4 into the sag-like part, folding back the end part 1a and overlapping it with the main body part, and sewing it. The fixing wire 5 is inserted into the common small hole row of each loop 3 formed by the warp threads 2 and the spiral wire 4, and the spiral wire is held at the tip of the canvas end. A joint is formed by applying this to both ends of the canvas.

In order to create a toothless portion of the joint loop, ie, a so-called window, during this operation, the spiral 4 is inserted into the sagging portion of the warp threads from one end to a predetermined window position in the conventional manner. There is usually one window in the center of the joint, but two windows may be provided across the entire width. When it reaches the window position, use a tool like lead pliers to stretch the spiral coil by the equivalent of two coils, as shown in Figure 3b.
Shape as shown in . These two coils are skipped and the remaining spirals are inserted into the sag-like portions as before. The long loop 6, which corresponds to the two coils stretched earlier, is inserted between the ends of the canvas when the spiral wire is completely inserted and the end of the canvas is folded back toward the main body so that it does not protrude outside. Next, use a sewing machine to sew the ends to the main body, so at this time they are sewn together and fixed. This notch is also provided at the corresponding position of the joint on the other end side, but when it is in the center, the notch will match if it is done using the color system of the central part of the main body as a guide. When there are two locations, if you draw a reference line in advance, they will match well.

When inserting the core wire 7, the core wire inserted into the joining loop can be pulled out from the end through this notch, and the remaining length of the core wire can be inserted again through this notch (window). When replacing the core wire, it is possible to pull out the old core wire by cutting the core wire at the window position and pulling out each section.

(E) Effects of the invention According to the invention, a cutout (window) with the structure described above is formed, so it can be used when hanging a wide canvas in a paper machine and joining both ends, or when it is worn out. Replacing the core wire with a new one used to take a very long time and was difficult, but now it is now possible to do it in a relatively short time even if you are not an expert. Furthermore, since the spiral coil is not cut when making the window, the cut end will not protrude onto the surface of the canvas during use and damage the paper surface. Conventionally, when replacing the core wire, the core wire could not be removed and the loop could be damaged, but this no longer happens.

As described above, the canvas joint of the present invention is easy to manufacture, and it shortens the time required in the past to join wide canvas ends or replace worn core wires at paper mills. This made it possible to reduce the amount of time required for paper cutting and contribute to improving work efficiency.
