When using a filter that has a flat expanse and filters air by passing the air in a direction perpendicular to the flat surface, it is often made into a unit. For example, when installing a HEPA filter on a large area air blowing surface such as a clean room, a unit with a frame attached to the periphery of the filter is made in advance, and several units are placed side by side on the same plane to blow out the air. This type of filter unit is commonly used to form a surface, and this type of filter unit is also often used when fixing a filter to an air conditioner or other air treatment equipment.

FIG. 1 shows a typical example of this type of filter unit, in which a quadrilateral filter 1 having a predetermined thickness is surrounded by a frame 3. Normally, a sealing process is performed to prevent leakage between the filter 1 and the frame 3, but this sealing process includes loading a sealant with an adhesive effect, such as a silicone sealer, and using a packing material. The most common method is to insert it between them and create a physical seal. FIG. 1 shows an example using the latter packing material 2.
However, in the former case, there are problems in that the chemical components of the sealant may migrate into the treated air and contaminate the air, and that it is difficult to operate when repairing or replacing the filter 1. The latter type of physical seal does not have this problem, but the packing material expands and contracts or loosens due to changes in the temperature of the processed air and changes in wind pressure, which can weaken the sealing effect and cause leaks over long-term use. be.

To explain in detail according to the embodiment shown in the drawings, FIG. 2 is a partially exploded view showing an example of a unit type air filter of the present invention using a HEPA filter 1, in which the filter 1 and the frame 3 (outer frame ), a coating material 4 and a packing material 2 are interposed in this order from the filter 1 side. This packing material 2 is made by wrapping ceramic fiber or the like with metal foil, glass fiber paper, or the like to give it elasticity and heat resistance. The filter 1 and the packing material 2 are airtightly bonded by a coating material 4, and the packing material 2 and the frame 3 are removably physically bonded by the elasticity of the packing material 2. In the present invention, by providing a large number of uneven lines 5 on the inner surface of the frame 3 in a direction substantially perpendicular to the direction of air passing through the filter 1,
This physical bond is made airtight, and the more air pressure is applied to the filter 1, the more airtight the physical bond becomes. In Fig. 2, the uneven linear shape 5 is visible only in the upper frame,
They are also provided on the inner surfaces of the bottom frame and left and right frames.

Figures 3 and 4 show in more detail the bonded state of the frame 3 and packing material 2, with Figure 3 showing the initial state of use and Figure 4 showing the state after some use. . In Fig. 3, due to the elasticity of the packing material 2, the packing material 2 is in contact with the inner surface of the frame body 3 along the unevenness of the inner surface of the frame body 3, and even if there is a slight gap, the uneven line shape allows air to flow. Since it is perpendicular to the direction, air resistance is large and there is no need to worry about leaks from that part. Even if the elasticity of the packing material 2 decreases after a number of days of use and a uniform gap 6 is formed between the inner surface of the frame and the surface of the packing material 2, as schematically shown in FIG. When air passes through the filter 1 as shown by the arrow, the packing material 2 moves relative to the frame 3 in the air flow direction due to its resistance (wind pressure), and the packing material 2 moves relative to the frame 3 in the direction of the air flow. As a result of uniformly contacting the concave and convex portions of the packing material 2 with one side surface 7, leakage through the gap 6 is substantially prevented. This is true regardless of whether the gap 6 is caused by a decrease in the elasticity of the packing material 2 or by expansion and contraction of the packing material 2 due to changes in air temperature.

In this way, the present invention provides a unit type air filter in which the packing material 2 is removably bonded to the frame body 3 to form a physical seal, but the sealing material 2 does not deteriorate over time due to use or due to temperature changes. It is a simple and effective solution to the problem of leaks, and can be used as a filter unit in clean rooms where particularly high cleanliness is required, as well as in clean air production equipment that purifies air contaminated with organic solvent gas, etc., and for high-temperature air. It is highly effective as a filter unit for purification equipment.
