Conventionally, a calibrator for measuring the rate of an electronic watch detects the reference frequency signal of the rate measuring device, measures its period or frequency, and displays the error, so naturally it is used to generate an extremely accurate reference frequency signal. The device is expensive because it includes a crystal oscillator, a signal detection device, a counter circuit for measuring the accuracy of the detection signal based on a reference signal, a display drive circuit, a display device, etc.

As is clear from the above, the device according to the present invention performs calibration by using the display device, etc. of the rate measuring device itself to be calibrated, so the configuration is simple and can be obtained at low cost. In addition, since the calibration signal output from the calibrator is output as an electric field signal by using an output electrode, it can be easily input from the microphone of the rate measuring device, so a special calibration signal can be used on the rate measuring device side. There is no need to provide a terminal, and furthermore, it is possible to input a calibration signal under the same conditions to all different types of rate measuring instruments.
