[Detailed description of the invention] This invention involves stripping off the end coating of a flat cable and inserting a cable between a pair of members having a groove and a groove that match the pitch of two or three times the conductor pitch.
Holding the end of the flat cable, fit the top of the rod into the mating groove so that every other or every second conductor is divided into upper and lower parts, and the conductor is placed between it and the contact provided at the bottom of the groove. This invention relates to a narrow pitch flat cable connector configured to be locked to each other in a sandwiched state.

Conventionally, flat cable connection methods include a method in which a U-shaped contact 1 is used to penetrate a sheath 2 and a conductor 3 is press-fitted into a slot 4 as shown in FIG. A method is known in which the connector is first welded or soldered to connect it to another printed circuit board connector.

If the conductor pitch P of the flat cable becomes smaller, the U-shaped contact 1 must be made smaller in the method shown in Figure 1, which may deteriorate the mechanical properties of the contact or cause a short circuit between the adjacent conductor 3 or contact 1. It will increase. In the method shown in Fig. 2, as shown in the figure, in order to widen the pitch (XP) of the printed circuit board connector connection pattern 6, the shape of the entire pattern becomes almost fan-shaped, making the conductive path longer, and the welding of the conductor 3 and pattern 6. This makes soldering work difficult and increases construction time.

This invention was made for the purpose of improving the above-mentioned drawbacks of the conventional narrow pitch flat cable connection, and the contact pitch of the connector of this invention is twice the conductor pitch of the flat cable. , in some cases can be tripled,
No other member is required to connect the pair of members, pressure is applied uniformly over the entire width, and the width of the connector is approximately equal to the width of the flat cable.

An embodiment of this invention will be described below based on the drawings. Figure 3 is a three-sided view when the assembly is completed, where a is a vertical sectional view, b is a part of the front view, c is a part of the top view, and d
is a part of the AA cross-sectional view of figure a. FIG. 4 is a perspective view showing the state of this connector before assembly, and the flat cable in this embodiment has signal conductors 31 every second, and adjacent signal conductors 3
1, there are two grounding conductors 32 between them, and as shown in the peeled part of the flat cable 30 in FIG. The ground conductor 32 is formed into a shape. A pair of members 7 and 8 that hold this flat cable are each connected to a contact portion 7.
8, 88 and cable clamp parts 79, 89, which are integrally molded from flexible plastic. Common contacts 9 are housed in the contact portions 78 and 88, respectively, and when the flat cable 30 is sandwiched and fitted to each other, the contact portions 78 and 88 function as a male connector equipped with a cable clamp.

The above contact portions 78, 88 of members 7, 8
will be explained in more detail. Contact portions 78, 8
8 has almost the same shape, and a plurality of contacts 9 are accommodated in each of the plurality of grooves 71 and 81.
1 is partially penetrated, and the curved portion 91 of the contact 9 is inserted into the through hole 72, 82, so that a portion of the curved portion appears on the surface of the members 7, 8. Lengths 73 and 83 are formed between the through holes 72 and 82, respectively, and loop-shaped top portions 74 and 84 are provided on both walls sandwiching the grooves 71 and 81 on the side in contact with the flat cable 30, so that they can be connected to each other. When the members 7 and 8 are fitted together, the tops 74 and 84 enter inside the loops of the ground conductor 32 and the signal conductor 31, respectively, and the grooves 71 and 8 of the members 7 and 8
The conductive wires 32, 31 are pressed inside the curved portion 91 of the contact 9 housed in the contact 1. Further, the side walls of the beams 73, 83 have protrusions 75, 85 and recesses 7.
6, 86 are formed, both members 7, 8 are pressed with the flat cable 30 between them, and the top parts 74,
84 is fitted into the through holes 82, 72 of the other member, the protrusions 75, 85 engage with the recesses 86, 76 of the other member facing each other at a predetermined position, and both members 7, 8 are coupled to each other. However, by cutting off the excess length of the flat cable 30 extending forward, a single male connector as shown in FIG. 5 is constructed. In this embodiment, there are two grounding wires for one signal wire, and as shown in the figure, the contact pitch of the connector is three times the line pitch of the flat cable.
It has been expanded twice. All lines are for signal purposes,
When every other cable is used for grounding, the contact pitch is twice the line pitch of the flat cable. Further, the contact is pressed from the back side to the top through the conductive wire and slightly extends out of the surface of the elastically deformable member, but it also serves as a contact force when fitting the connector.

This invention is constructed as described above, but by alternately dividing the conductors constituting the flat cable into upper and lower parts, it is possible to obtain a contact pitch twice as large as the conductor pitch, and also If the grounding conductor occupies two-thirds of the total, the contact pitch is three times the conductor pitch.
It is possible to provide a connector having a contact pitch that prevents short-circuiting of adjacent contacts or conducting wires even if the connector width is made almost the same as the cable width using a thin pitch flat cable. As for the component parts, excluding the cable and contacts, there is only a pair of plastic molded products, and the connector width can be made almost equal to the flat cable width, so there is no waste, and even if the cable width becomes wider, the pressing force is reduced. The female connector which is uniform and into which the formed male connector fits may also be a conventional female connector made by conventional technology, and the technical and economical effects are extremely large.
