Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide an image erasing-reproducing system used as play goods for children, by a method wherein the image formed on an image support by ink based on an xanthene dye is treated with an acid to be erased and the erased image is subsequently treated with alkali to reproduce the erased image. CONSTITUTION:As ink, one containing a xanthene dye is used and said xanthene dye has a xanthene ring represented by general formula (Wherein R is a substitutent, for example, halogen, a hydroxyl group or an amino group). The image formed on a support is treated with an acid to be erased. In this case, an org. acid such as citric acid or succinic acid and an acidic aqueous solution containing an inorg. acid such as sulfuric acid are used in acid treatment. This erased image can be reproduced by alkali treatment. As an alkaline substance, alkali carbonate or weak alkali such as alkali salt of higher fatty acid (soap), calcium hydroxide or magnesium hydroxide are used.

The image thus formed on the support is decolorized by acid treatment. In this case, for the acid treatment, an acidic aqueous solution containing an organic acid such as citric acid or succinic acid, or an inorganic acid such as sulfuric acid is used, and it is preferable to use an aqueous solution of sulfuric acid. The acid concentration in the aqueous solution is preferably 0.1 to 20% by weight, usually 0.3 to 10% by weight. This acid treatment erases the color of the xanthene dye image.

The image decolored as described above continues to be in its decolored state, but this decolored image can be reproduced by alkali treatment, if necessary. Alkaline processing is performed by bringing an alkaline substance into contact with the decolorized image, but in this case, the alkaline substance does not need to be a strong alkali such as alkali hydroxide, but an alkaline carbonate, Weak alkalis such as higher fatty acid alkali salts (soap), calcium hydroxide, and magnesium hydroxide are sufficient. In addition, the alkaline substance used to reproduce the erased image can be used in the form of an aqueous solution, or in the solid form mixed with fillers such as clay, silica, or alumina, or it can be impregnated into paper, cloth, etc. It can be used with

An image reproducing material is provided which includes a support having a decolorized image obtained by decolorizing the image by acid treatment, and an alkaline substance. Such materials are sold as commercial products, and the erased images are reproduced by users. According to a preferred embodiment of the present invention, a material for reproducing a colorless image is provided, in which a colorless image is formed on one part of a sheet of paper or cloth, and the other part is impregnated and supported with an alkaline substance. For such materials, add water to it and knead it.
By bringing an alkaline substance into contact with the decolorized image area, the decolorized image can be reproduced.
