Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable continuous and easy production of a photosensitive drum by introducing a continuously obtd. stock pipe continuously into a dipping vessel which is provided above said pipe, contains a photosensitive coating liquid and has a through-hole of the diameter slightly larger than the outside diameter of the cylindrical molding in the bottom from the through-hole in the bottom of said vessel. CONSTITUTION:A device provided with the dipping vessel 8 which contains the photosensitive coating liquid and has the through-hole of the diameter slightly larger than the outside diameter of the cylindrical molding in the bottom above an extruding machine which has a screw 1 having a smooth part in the nose and can form the cylindrical molding perpendicularly upward is used. A thermosetting resin dispersed with a carbon is continuously molded and the formed cylindrical molding is continuously fed to the dipping vessel 8 where the photosensitive coated film layer is formed on the molding surface. The extruding machine is installed into the construction in which the front end of the extruding machine is directed perpendicularly upward to mold the cylindrical molding, i.e., stock pipe, is formed successively upward. The photosensitive drum is thereby easily and continuously obtd.

Conventionally, photoreceptor drums have been manufactured by making the raw tube that serves as the substrate of the photoreceptor layer into a short tube with the same length as the final photoreceptor drum shape.
The drum was manufactured by processing the drum to improve its surface smoothness and the straightness of the drum, and then providing a photoreceptor layer thereon.

On the other hand, as photoreceptor materials, there has been remarkable progress in inexpensive and safe organic photoreceptor materials, and excellent performance can be achieved simply by applying a coating liquid in which the organic photoreceptor is dissolved or dispersed with an appropriate binder as needed onto the tube. It is now possible to make photoreceptor drums of

However, it is difficult to apply photoreceptor coating liquid to short tubes, and various efforts have been made (for example, JP-A-59-4467, JP-A-61-25149, etc.). I have to say that it is extremely inadequate in terms of implementation on an industrial scale.

In order to obtain a molded product with important precision in terms of surface smoothness and straightness as a raw tube for photoreceptor drums, for example, it is necessary to extrude the smooth part of the screw mentioned above and self-shape at the same time. Therefore, it is important to shape and cure the thermosetting resin to a degree that maintains the thermosetting resin, and to set the temperature in the extrusion molding machine depending on the type of thermosetting resin. Here, the thermosetting resins include phenol resin, melamine resin, urea resin, unsaturated polyester resin, epoxy resin, silicone resin, allyl resin, xylene resin, aniline resin, polyethylene resin, polypropylene resin, polystyrene resin, polyvinyl chloride resin. Examples include those obtained by adding a crosslinking agent to a thermoplastic resin such as, among others, phenol resin and melamine resin are particularly preferably used.

In addition, in order to continuously produce photoreceptor drums using these materials by the method described below, the resistance measured on the surface of the raw tube must be 1.
It is required that the resistance be 0 Ω·1 or less, particularly 10 6 Ω·1 or less, and therefore it is necessary to disperse carbon in an amount of 3 to 30 wt % in the entire molded product, depending on the type of carbon.

What is important in the present invention is that the extrusion molding machine described above must be installed in a structure with the tip of the extrusion molding machine facing vertically upward, and the cylindrical molded product, that is, the raw tube, must be formed facing upward. . By doing so, the photoreceptor coating liquid described later can be uniformly applied in the circumferential direction of the drum.

In the present invention, the raw tube that is continuously obtained by the above-mentioned method is then provided with a through-hole in the bottom part containing the photoreceptor coating liquid provided above and having a diameter slightly larger than the outer diameter of the cylindrical molded product. It is continuously introduced from below into a dipping tank having a through-hole at the bottom. Here, the relationship between the through hole and the raw pipe should be such that the coating liquid does not leak downward from the immersion tank, for example, 0.
- If a ring or the like is inserted between the raw tube above the through hole, the thickness of the 0-ring used is determined. If such a packing material is not used, the spacing is determined by the viscosity and surface tension of the coating liquid. In this way, as the raw tube is molded by the extrusion molding machine in the dipping tank, the raw tube moves, and the coated drum is continuously taken out from the liquid surface of the dipping tank.

By providing several dipping baths as necessary, the photoreceptor can be coated in multiple layers. At this time, it is necessary to provide a heating device or a device for sending hot air between each dipping tank so that the coating film can be dried.
