Abstract

PURPOSE:To save troublesome work for prevention of faulty ink discharging before the commencement of printing, while protecting a printing head constantly except when a travelling detection roller travels, by opening and closing a head cap in interlocking with the travelling detection roller. CONSTITUTION:A side gear 10 provided on a travelling detection roller 3 is rotated in response to the running of the travelling detection roller 3 when paper is slid. A rack 11 connected to a head cap 8 moves the head cap 8 in the same direction as paper by rotation of the side gear 12, opening an ink discharge port of a printing head 1, thus enabling printing. Further, when a travel printing is stopped and separated from paper, the head cap 8 is restored to its original position by a spring, enabling protection of the printing head 1 and prevention of ink coagulation. Consequently, the printing head 1 is always protected except when it is travelling for printing, and troublesome work for prevention of faulty ink discharge prior to the commencement of printing can be saved.

(Prior art and problems) Conventionally, for example, in an inkjet printing device, when not in use, the ink tends to dry and solidify in the ink ejection section, resulting in ink ejection failure. Alternatively, manual operations such as pushing the rear rubber material part that communicates with the ink ejection section with a bottle to allow some ink to come out of the ink ejection section before starting printing are required. This requires a lot of effort and wastes power and time, and there is a risk of damaging the device if the rear part is used for pushing.

[Example 1] Figures 1, 2, and 3 show examples of the present invention. Figure 1 is an external perspective view of a manual scanning inkjet recording device, and Figure 2 is a printed image. This is a front cross-sectional view when the head section is viewed from the front, and Figure 3 is a partial side cross-sectional view. 5 is a storage lid for a cartridge 6 that stores the printing unit main body, 6 is an inkjet cartridge, 7 is a manual scanning pen case, 8 is a bed cap, 9 is a spring, IO is a side gear, and 11 is a rack. When the print start button 2 is pressed, the entire device is turned on. Further, it is preferable that the helad cap 8 is made of an elastic material so as to be brought into close contact with the print head.

In such a configuration, if the paper surface shown in FIG. 2 is the printing surface on which the paper, which is the recording medium, moves, the movement is detected when the paper slides in the direction ``as the roller 3 moves. A side gear 10 provided as shown in FIG. 3 of the running detection roller rotates. The rack II connected to the head cap 8 is provided to be moved by the rotation of the side gear 10, and as the side gear 10 rotates, the head cap 8 is moved in the direction of the arrow shown in FIG. will open and you can print. Further, when the running printing is stopped and the recording device is separated from the paper surface, the head cap 8 is returned to its original position by the spring 9, making it possible to protect the print head and prevent ink from coagulating. While the vehicle is running, the rack If is in a position where the spring 9 maintains contact with the side gear to the extent that the head cap 8 is not returned to its original position. (Embodiment 2) FIGS. 4 and 5 show the second embodiment. FIG. 4 is a front sectional view similar to FIG. 2, and FIG. 5 is a partially schematic perspective view showing the running detection method. In the first embodiment, the helad cap is mechanically Although the head cap was opened and closed in conjunction with the travel detection roller, in this embodiment the head cap is opened and closed by electrically operating a solenoid.

As the travel detection roller 3 travels in Figure 2g4, the encoder 13, which is interlocked with the travel detection roller 3 through gears, rotates and the photo sensor 1 is activated as shown in Figure 5.
At the same time as the rotation is detected at step 4, the solenoid 12 moves to open the rad cap 8 and enable printing. The set of head caps 8 are connected in conjunction with a print start switch 2 as shown in FIG. 1 so that the solenoid is de-energized when the switch is turned off, thereby protecting the head when not in use and preventing ink from coagulating.

First, when SW2, which is the print start button, is turned on, the CPU 15 confirms that the SW has been turned on in step F1, and moves to step 2. In step F2, the encoder 13 rotates as the running detection roller 3 runs, and the photo A TRG pulse is sent from the sensor 14 to the CPU 15 to detect running. Along with this, the head cap 8 is ovend in mechanical conjunction with the running detection roller.
