This combines a thin line and a thick line to form a reflective area and an unbalanced reflective area, and identifies the reflective area and non-reflective area of the article.

は、この点に鑑みて成されたものである。(Problems to be Solved by the Invention) Since this bar code can reliably and easily read the above-mentioned identification, classification, price, etc., it has become widely popular and is now used in all fields. However, this barcode system was not perfect, and there were still issues to be solved. In other words, when printing barcodes on the product itself or on the packaging of the product, misalignment or smearing may occur in areas with small gaps between thin lines, and in order to prevent this, very strict measures must be taken. This means that it is necessary to carry out technical management. Therefore, it is expected that a code system based on a completely new idea will be introduced instead of a bar code. The present invention was made in view of this point.

By coloring arbitrary parts from one to four of the divided parts of the divided figure, a code is created that forms a part that can reflect light and a part that cannot reflect light. A sensor that irradiates light onto a portion facing the code and detects that the irradiated light is reflected by a reflective portion of the code, and a discrimination circuit that reads the code meant by the code from the output signal of the sensor. This is a code system with a configuration that includes:

In the figure, l is a code, and a circular figure 2 is divided into four parts (area parts) 6, 7, 8 by three concentric circles 3, 4.5.
.. It is divided into 9 parts. Color 1 to 4 of these divided parts arbitrarily (black can be used), and depending on the position and number of the colored parts, from rAJ to ``0'' to ``9'' as shown in Figure 2. A total of 16 types of codes up to rFJ can be obtained. This code 1 is normally colored by printing, but it may also be done by hand. The codes 1 are arranged in an appropriate order depending on the classification or price of the item to be displayed.

Therefore, the reading device includes a light emitter that irradiates the entire area with light and a sensor that distinguishes between reflected light and non-reflected light.
A discriminating circuit is required to read the code meaning 1 from the output signal of this sensor.
