Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a lubricating oil from leaking out by providing an annular wall at a wall portion of a gear box and inside of a presser ring retaining a seal member, which annular wall has an inner diameter smaller than that of the seal member, in such a manner that the annular wall surrounds a main motor shaft. CONSTITUTION:The titled gear box comprises upper and lower elements 1 and 2 each having brackets 3 and 4 welded thereto for mounting to a main motor. The upper and lower elements 1 and 2 are integrally connected by fittings 5. The gear box encases a pinion 12 mounted on a main motor shaft 19 and a gear wheel 13 meshing with the pinion 12. The shaft 19 is supported by a bearing 17 encased in a bearing box 20. The gear box is further provided with presser rings 6-8 having grooves adapted to engage seal members 9-11 for preventing leakage of a lubricating oil in the elements 1 and 2. The presser ring 6 is integrally formed with an annular wall 22 projecting inwardly of the gear box and surrounding the shaft 19. The annular wall 22 has an inner diameter smaller than that of the seal member 9.
