Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable discrimination of the kind of a recording paper by providing a recording paper type information detector comprising two sensors opposed to a plurality of annular information recording regions provided on an end face of a rolled form paper, in a recording paper containing part. CONSTITUTION:When a rolled form paper 4 is fitted in a recording paper containing part of a printer, first and second tracks 10, 11 in recording paper type information regions on a holder side plate 7 are detected by sensors of first and second detecting parts 16, 17, and the kind of the recording paper 4 is discriminated by a detection signal processing part 18 on the basis of the combination of black and white detection signals. The type of the recording paper thus discriminated is displayed on a display part 19, then a recording- controlling part 20 sets parameters such as the duration of pulses of electric current supplied to a thermal recording head 21 according to the discrimination information, thereby driving the head 21. Thus, the type of the rolled form paper fitted to a recorder can be securely discriminated, not only in a stationary condition but in a rotating condition, and parameters for a recording operation and the like can be automatically set to appropriate values.

Among conventional recording devices that use a thermal recording head such as a thermal transfer recording device, any type of recording paper can be used, but only paper that satisfies predetermined characteristics can be used. It is necessary to use In addition, in this type of recording device, the recording paper is often prepared in a rolled form (for example, as shown in FIG. 6, the roll paper 25 is directly transferred to the recording device
6 and is used. By the way, among such recording devices, there are those that can use not only one type of recording paper but multiple types of recording paper with different properties.
In such a device, it is necessary to individually set conditions such as the amount of heat generated by the thermal recording head depending on the type of recording paper.

In this case, it is very convenient to automatically set the settings when the recording paper is loaded into the apparatus, rather than manually changing the settings when replacing the recording paper. However, in order to make automatic settings like this, it is necessary to write information indicating the type on the recording paper so that it can be read by a machine. One possible method is to supply the recording paper in a state in which each roll of paper is individually stored in a special box, and to mark the previous information on the box. However, if the roll paper is not stored in a box like this but is supplied bare, it is not possible to write the information on the surface of the roll paper, so other means must be used. be. FIG. 7 shows one of the means, and in FIG. 7, 27 is a roll paper case, the roll paper 25 is housed in the -H roll paper case 27, and the state where it is housed in the roll paper 27 is shown. and stored in the recording device 28. Roll paper 25
If there are several types of roll paper 25 with different properties, several types of roll paper cases 27 are prepared to correspond to each type of roll paper 25. An identification part 29 is provided on the side of the roll paper case 27 to distinguish the f1 type of roll paper stored therein, while an identification part 29 is provided in a part facing the identification part 29 in the recording device 28. A switch 30.31 is provided which can be switched by abutting against a provided projection. When the roll paper case 27 is placed in the recording device 28, the open/closed states of the switches 30, 31 are set according to the state of the identification section 29, and thereby the recording device! It28 can identify the type of stored roll paper.

Means for Solving the Problems In order to solve the above-mentioned problems, the present invention provides a recording paper class 11 information system that is equipped with a plurality of sensors in a recording paper storage section at positions facing the end surface of the roll of roll-shaped recording paper. In addition to providing a detection device, the configuration is such that the type of recording paper can be identified by a combination of the above sensor and its detection information, and printing conditions can be automatically set accordingly. A plurality of annular information recording areas are provided on the outer surface of the holder side plate disposed at the end of the body on a circle concentric with the rotation axis of the roll body, and information is written by forming the information recording body in a specific state. .

Function As described above, by providing the information recording body on the end face of the roll body concentrically with the rotation axis of the roll body, even when the roll body rotates, the radial direction between the information recording body and the sensor facing it is maintained. The relative positional relationship between the two does not change, and since it is annular, the information input to the sensor is not interrupted, so the sensor can reliably detect the state of the information recording medium. A plurality of such annular information recording areas are provided concentrically on the recording paper side, and a plurality of sensors corresponding to each of the information recording bodies are provided on the recording device side. It becomes possible to identify the type of recording paper by combining the detection information in these plurality of sensors.

For example, it may be configured as shown in FIG. In FIG. 5, reference numeral 22 denotes a holder side plate of a holder for holding rolled recording paper, and its surface is configured to reflect infrared rays. In the example shown in Fig. 5, the holder side plate 2
On the two outer surfaces, the outer track is provided with an annular rib 23, and the inner track is provided with a concentric ring 24. The sensor 12 is arranged to face the inner track, and the sensor 13 is arranged to face the outer track. When the sensor faces the top surface of the annular rib, strong reflected light enters the sensor, and when the sensor faces the annular groove, the reflected light towards the sensor becomes weaker, and the sensor reads information based on this difference in intensity. Is possible.
