The applicant previously proposed an apparatus for applying synthetic resin to the edge of can body paper (see Utility Model Application No. 56-97252 and Utility Model Application No. 58-3967). However, the device in which the application roll is installed vertically,
The structure is such that the synthetic resin is supplied via a transfer roll, and the structure is complicated, and no consideration has been given to ensuring uniform application. However, this idea has a simple structure in which the applicator roll is installed vertically, one side of which is immersed in a synthetic resin liquid, and the other side facing the can body paper travel path with a guide plate. The desired purpose was achieved by precisely applying synthetic resin liquid to the edges while regulating the position of the edges.

This invention will be explained below based on embodiments shown in the drawings. A coating roll 2 is rotatably installed on one side of the synthetic resin liquid tank 1 by a vertical shaft 3. The side plate 4 of the synthetic resin liquid tank 1 is provided with a rectangular groove 5 into which one side of the applicator roll is loosely fitted. The portion protrudes from the outer wall of the rectangular groove 5. The height of the rectangular groove 5 is slightly larger than the thickness of the applicator roll 2, and the applicator roll 2 loosely fitted into the rectangular groove 5 has one side in sliding contact with one vertical edge of the rectangular groove 5, and the other side. A slight gap (for example, 2 to 3 mm) is provided between the other vertical edges of the rectangular groove 5 so that the synthetic resin liquid adhering to the periphery of the coating roll can return directly into the liquid tank. In the figure, 6 is a heater embedded in the synthetic resin liquid tank 1, which is used to prevent the synthetic resin liquid tank from cooling and solidifying and to maintain it at an appropriate temperature at all times. A U-groove 7 is provided in an annular shape in the center of the outer peripheral surface of the application roll 2, and a movement path for the can-body paper 8 is formed at a position such that the edge 8a of the can-body paper 8 is inserted into the U-groove 7. 9 has been installed. The moving path 9 supports the can body paper 8 from below and includes guide plates 10 and 10a that regulate its height, and a rising wall 12 that is installed outside each guide plate and regulates the left and right position of the can body paper. , 12a. A chain 11 for feeding can body paper and a pressing piece 11a are laid approximately at the center of the guide plates 10, 10a. Said coating roll 2

In order to apply the synthetic resin liquid 16 to the edge 8a of the can body paper 8 using the apparatus shown in the above embodiment, the can body paper 8 is placed on the guide plates 10, 10a and is pressed by the pressing piece 11a of the chain. The can body paper 8 is propelled and moved as indicated by the arrow 17 in FIG. Here, the applicator roll 2 is rotated as shown by the arrow 18, and when the can body paper 8 comes into contact with the applicator roll 2, the can body paper 8
Synthetic resin liquid 16 is applied to the edge 8a (fourth
(Fig. 5). In the above, the edge 8 of the can body paper 8
When a contacts the application roll 2, the other side of the can body paper 8 contacts the rising wall 12a of the guide plate 10a, so that the can body paper 8 does not escape from the application roll 2 during coating and is kept in a stable state. Synthetic resin liquid is reliably applied. Furthermore, since one side of the application roll 2 is in sliding contact with one side edge of the rectangular groove 5 of the synthetic resin liquid tank 1, the one side edge of the rectangular groove 5 functions as a scraper, and the synthetic resin liquid to be applied is removed. Quantity is regulated. The synthetic resin liquid 16 has a high viscosity, and since the coating roll 2 is always moving toward the synthetic resin liquid tank (arrow 19), the synthetic resin is removed from the gap between the edge of the groove 5 and the coating roll 2. There is no risk of liquid leaking outside.

According to the embodiment described above, since the application roll 2 is installed within the synthetic resin liquid tank 1, the amount of protrusion of the application roll 2 from the synthetic resin liquid tank can be made as small as possible. Therefore, there is no risk that the synthetic resin liquid adhering to the application roll will drip off the roll or harden before application. Further, according to the above embodiment, since the coating roll 2 is provided with a U groove, the synthetic resin liquid can be applied over a relatively wide area on both sides of the edge 8a of the can body paper 8. can be,
The cross-sectional shape of the groove can be changed as necessary.

In other words, according to this invention, a can that moves horizontally can be manufactured using a simple structure in which the applicator roll is mounted on a vertical shaft, one side of which is immersed in a synthetic resin liquid, and the other side faces the path of movement of the can body paper. A synthetic resin liquid can be applied to the edge of the body paper. In addition, since a guide plate is provided on the moving path, the other side of the paper in the can body that is in contact with the applicator roll is in contact with the guide plate, and the can body paper does not escape from the applicator roll, and the synthetic resin liquid is evenly distributed in a stable state. It has the effect of being able to apply . Furthermore, since the application roll is brought into sliding contact with one side vertical edge of the rectangular groove, the vertical edge acts as a scraper, and there is no need to prepare a special scraper. Furthermore, since the applicator roll is mounted inside the liquid tank, the amount of protrusion of the applicator roll from the liquid tank can be minimized, and there is no risk that the synthetic resin liquid will harden or drip before application.
