Description of the Related Art Conventional write-once optical discs and recording/reproducing devices thereof record signals by evaporating the recording film with a laser beam to form holes in the recording film. So-called -degree recording can be reproduced any number of times, and unlike magnetic disks, it is not possible to repeatedly record and reproduce data in the same sector.

When playing live,
It first searches for the sector written at the end of the directory, reads the sector backwards, reads the desired sector, and then accesses the sector that records the desired data. This means that it takes a very long time to search for the target data.

。A method for reading and writing directory information to a semiconductor memory will be described in more detail. The optical disk recording/reproducing device 2 and the semiconductor memory section 7 in the optical disk base material are connected by a device-side transmitting/receiving contact section 10 and a semiconductor memory-side transmitting/receiving contact section 11. This contact is, for example, an electrical contact made of a conductive gold shoulder strip for transmitting electrical signals, and is connected when the disk is installed in the device.

Directory read/write control section 4 sends a memory control signal 106 to memory interface 12 in semiconductor memory section 7 via transmission/reception contact section 10.11, and transmits/receives input/output data 106. The memory interface 12 transfers the received memory control signal 107 and input/output data 108 to the memory 13 in use, including an address 109, data 110, and a write enable signal 1.
11, etc., and write to and read from the memory 13. Here, it is appropriate for the input/output data 112 between the contacts on the device side and the contacts on the disk side to be transferred in a bit-serial manner due to the limited number of contacts. In addition, the memory control signal 113 is a minimum input/output data 112
If there is an input/output data direction line that specifies the direction of the data, it becomes possible to record and reproduce data in the semiconductor memory.

However, if an electrically erasable EEPROM is used and power is supplied from the device only when a disk is mounted, the backup power supply 14 may not be necessary. However, the contact portion requires a power supply line from the device side. If a backup power source is provided, the memory can be set to a low-current standby mode when no disk is attached by using the signal indicating disk attachment as the chip select signal of the semiconductor memory.

。Furthermore, in this embodiment, a mode has been described in which directory information is transmitted and received through electrical contact between the clamper section and the disk section, but the transmitting and receiving means may be implemented using other electrical contact methods, or optical means using a photocube 2 or the like. It goes without saying that magnetic means using a magnetic head or the like do not depart from the spirit of the present invention.

By rewriting the area and using a large-capacity write-once optical disc, it functions like an erasable disc, making it possible to shorten the access time for directory searches.
