DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION [Field of Industrial Application] The present invention relates to an improvement in a coater for continuously applying a coating material such as a liquid or a liquid substance or a powder to a strip-shaped object.

Conventionally, this type of coater supplies a coating material to a rotating roller, runs a strip while pressing the roller, and transfers the coating onto the strip.

In order to ensure the above-mentioned pressing, normally another roller is provided which presses against and rotates in contact with the above-mentioned roller, and the strip is run between these rollers.

Further, it is desirable that the amount of the coated material supplied per unit time completely match the consumption amount of the coated material to be transferred per unit time, but it is extremely difficult to control it in this way. Therefore, such control is usually not performed and the above-mentioned supply amount is made excessive. For example, there are examples where the supply amount is 5 to 20 times the consumption amount.

Naturally, the excess coating material falls off the roller. The fallen coating material is received by a catch pan disposed below the roller, collected and fed again to the supply side. In other words, a portion of the coating liquid is constantly being circulated.

When the coating material is circulated in this way, the coating material may come into contact with air and its dispersibility may deteriorate, or air may be drawn into the coating material, which may cause the performance of the coating material to become extremely poor. This resulted in negative effects such as a decrease in performance. Because of the emphasis on performance and quality, there were cases where this excess supply was disposed of instead of being recycled, resulting in a huge loss in terms of cost.

The present invention has been made in view of the above-mentioned circumstances, and the present invention automatically matches the supply amount of the coating material supplied to the roller with the consumption amount of the coating material transferred from the roller to the strip-shaped material, thereby reducing both by 1: 1, thereby eliminating the circulation of the coated material at all, and thereby providing a coater which makes it possible to eliminate the above-mentioned problems.

For this reason, the coater of the present invention is provided with a rotatable application roller, a supply section that supplies the coating material to an appropriate circumferential surface of the roller, and presses a running strip against the roller. In a coater configured to transfer the adhered coated material onto the strip-shaped object, the supply section is formed in a nozzle shape, and the coated material generated on the circumferential surface of the roller is placed at an appropriate position on the circumferential surface of the roller. A sensing device for sensing a buildup and a control device for transmitting a signal from the sensing device are provided, and the nozzle-shaped supply section is configured to supply a coating material from the nozzle-shaped supply section in response to a signal transmitted from the sensing device. A flow rate adjusting device is provided to adjust the supply amount to within a certain range so that the coating material pool does not fall.

The main point of this embodiment is to prevent a coating material pool, such as a liquid pool, that occurs on the circumferential surface of a rotating coating roller, or, if the coating material contains powder such as magnetic powder, to forcibly remove a coating material pool by an external force such as magnetism. The coating material is supplied so as not to cause the coating material pool to grow beyond a predetermined value, and the amount of the coating material supplied is controlled so that the excess coating liquid and other excess coating materials do not fall.

The sensing device 6 senses the state of a coating material pool 5 such as a coating material attached to the lower end of the coating roller 1 and hangs down, and transmits it as a signal. It is possible to sense whether a set upper or lower limit has been reached. For example, a light source and a light receiving element are disposed at the upper and lower limit positions on both sides of the coating material reservoir 5, and the light receiving element senses whether or not the coating material reservoir 5 blocks the light emitted from the light source. Examples of using an optical fiber, a light source tube, a laser, etc. as the light source are conceivable. It should be noted that the sensing device may be any device that senses the size of the coating material reservoir 5, etc., and is not specified. For example, mechanisms using image sensors, ultrasonic sensors, magnetic sensors, proximity sensors, eddy current pressure loss measurements, capacitance measurements, etc., and others can be used.

The magnet 9 is arranged and fixed along the inside of the circumferential surface of the coating roller 1, and when the coating material is magnetic powder, it attracts it and forms a coating material pool 5 on the circumferential surface of the coating roller 1. Form.

In the case of this example, a coating material reservoir 5' is also formed on the exit side of the contact portion between the coating roller 1 and the press roller 3,
Similarly to the above, the size and other conditions of the applied material reservoir 5' in this area are monitored by a sensing device (not shown). Through this monitoring, the pressing force or doctor of the press roller 3 is adjusted so that the amount of the applied material reservoir 5 becomes appropriate. It goes without saying that the magnet 9 is not required if the coated material is not magnetic.

The doctor 10 scrapes off a portion of the coating liquid adhering to the coating roller 1 in order to adjust the amount of the coating liquid, and is provided behind the lower coating material reservoir 5.
As a result, the coating material reservoir 5 may be formed into two mountain shapes as shown in the figure.

When the amount of the coating material supplied is larger than the amount of coating material transferred onto the strip 4, the excess coating material collects at the lower part of the application roller 1 to form a coating material reservoir 5, the lower end 5a of which is directed downward. Droops and grows. The lower end 5a
When reaches the lower limit, the lower limit sensing device 6c senses it and transmits the signal to the control device 7. The control device 7 controls the nozzle-like supply unit 2 by the above-mentioned signals.
The flow rate adjustment device 8 is operated to adjust the supply amount of the coating material. In this case, the supply amount is reduced.

If the supply amount decreases, the growth of the coating material reservoir is suppressed, and the lowering of the lower end 5a of the coating material reservoir 5 decreases, stagnates, or retreats (the lower end rises). Even if the downward movement of the lower end 5a of the applied material reservoir 5 is reduced, if the lower end 5a of the applied material reservoir 5 falls further, the lower end 5a of the applied material reservoir 5 will be detected by the lowest limit sensing device 6d, and the flow rate adjustment device 8 will further reduce the supply amount. The lower end 5a of the coating material reservoir 5 begins to rise. Application material reservoir 5
When the lower end 5a of the lower end 5a rises and its position is sensed by the upper or highest sensing devices 6a, 6b, the effect is simply the opposite of the above case, so a description thereof will be omitted.

The present invention is as described above, and detects the state of the coating material pool that occurs on the circumferential surface of the coating roller, and adjusts the supply amount of the coating material based on this so that the liquid pool is within a certain range. Since the amount of coated material supplied and the amount transferred and coated onto the strip are always balanced, there is no need to recirculate the coated material supplied to the coating roller. Therefore, it is possible to eliminate the deterioration in quality due to air in the circulation of the coated material. Further, the above-mentioned coating material reservoir has an extremely large mixing effect, and is also effective in improving dispersibility immediately before coating and eliminating air and bubbles contained in the coating material.

In addition, it eliminates the need for the above-mentioned circulation device for the applied material,
Moreover, it becomes possible to downsize the supply device (pump, etc.) of the supply section, and it becomes possible to simplify the device itself.
