If the number of thyristors connected in series is reduced by providing protection with a high-performance arrester, the AC voltage effective value E increases. Conversely, in order to reduce the number of parallel circuits, a thyristor with a large current rating may be used, but in order to damp commutation vibration and equalize voltage sharing, the capacitor capacitance C must be increased.

In this way, in the conventional structure, when trying to reduce the number of thyristors, the AC voltage effective value E and the capacitor capacitance C increase, so the power loss shown in equation (1) increases.
If the dimensions of the capacitor remain the same even though Pc increases, the power loss density within the capacitor element 5 will increase, resulting in an increase in temperature rise. When the temperature rise exceeds a certain value, the capacitor element 5
Also, the deterioration of the insulating oil 6 is accelerated, and the reliability of the capacitor 3 is significantly reduced. This is not preferable for a conversion device that requires high reliability. Power loss Pc
decreases by decreasing tan δ, but in general, a dielectric material with a small tan δ has a low dielectric constant, so if you try to make a capacitor with the same capacitance, both the size and weight will increase. Therefore, in order to create a capacitor that can handle large power losses without changing the dielectric material, the design must be such that the heat generated in the capacitor element 5 is smoothly dissipated from the surface of the container via the insulating oil 6. . So container 10
This can be solved by increasing the surface area of the capacitor, but this also results in an increase in the size of the capacitor. Therefore, the conventional capacitor cooling structure has the drawback that it is impossible to make the thyristor converter smaller and cheaper.

In order to achieve the above object, this invention includes a container housing a capacitor element, and a connecting terminal that protrudes from inside the container to the outside and is electrically connected to the capacitor element and is insulated from the container. In the capacitor, the connection terminal is configured as a heat pipe for absorbing heat radiation due to power loss of the capacitor element and guiding it to the outside of the container.

In conventional capacitors without 1, the temperature at the center of the element rises over time, so the heat pipe 11
By wrapping the element around the capacitor element 5 , the heat generated within the capacitor element 5 is effectively guided to the heat pipe 11 . As the material of the heat pipe 11, a metal with good thermal conductivity is generally used.

In this invention, a heat pipe is provided to absorb the heat generated inside the capacitor and guide it to the outside of the container, making it possible to realize a capacitor with extremely high cooling efficiency. Furthermore, since the length and shape of the heat pipe can be freely changed, the heat dissipation fins can be placed at optimal locations in the flow of the cooling medium, making it possible to further improve cooling performance. Furthermore, since the power loss density in the capacitor element can be increased, the capacitor as a whole can be made smaller and lighter, which can greatly contribute to reducing the cost and size of thyristor converters and the like. At the same time, since the temperature rise of the capacitor is reduced, the life of the capacitor element and insulating oil can be extended, which can be expected to have the excellent effect of improving reliability.

According to the capacitor of the present invention, it is possible to obtain a capacitor with good heat dissipation efficiency, and since the heat pipe used to improve heat dissipation efficiency is also used as a connection terminal, the number of component parts can be reduced and the structure Furthermore, even though a heat pipe is provided, the number of parts that must protrude from the container in a sealed state does not increase, making it possible to obtain a highly reliable capacitor with less leakage. .
