Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable an ink to be acceleratedly fixed on a recording sheet immediately after recording, by a method wherein ventilating paths opening to the recording sheet are provided inside a planar body, such as a paper cutter disposed on the recording sheet discharge side portion of a recording head. CONSTITUTION:On a head travel area of the upper portion of a recording head 7, a paper cutter 8 is disposed, and inside the paper cutter 8 conduits 10 having discharge ports 9 on the side of a recording sheet 2 are arranged at predetermined intervals. The recording sheet 2 is inserted between a paper guide 4 and a platen 1, and the leading end of the recording sheet 2 is exposed from the paper cutter 8 by rotating the platen 1 once and then a recording start button is pressed, whereby a carriage 6 moves in the width direction of the recording sheet 2 according to recording information with the drive of the recording head 7 to cause ink drips to fly to the recording sheet for conducting recording. Simultaneously, a heater 12 is electrically conducted, whereby heated hot air is fed into the conduits 10 in the paper cutter 8 through a tube 11 to be blown from the discharge ports 9 against the ink adhesion surface of the recording sheet 2, thus resulting in a recording ink fixed rapidly.

An inkjet recording device moves a carriage equipped with a head parallel to a platen that conveys a recording sheet, and during this movement, an ink chamber formed within the head is excited by an electro-mechanical transducer to generate ink droplets. A configuration is adopted in which recording is performed by making the image fly over the recording sheet.

However, in conventional inkjet recording devices, when dot density is increased in order to increase the recording density and obtain a clear image, dots overlap each other, so it takes time to dry the dot image, which means that the dot image cannot be fixed properly. (requires time for drying) and becomes undried. For this reason, there have been problems such as ink flowing when the recording sheet is rubbed by hand immediately after recording, or transfer to the back side when the recording sheets are stacked, resulting in print stains.

One possible solution to this problem is to install a heater on the sheet path for forced drying, but since it has to be configured to cover the platen, it is difficult to visually check the print or image immediately after recording. The drawback is that it cannot be done.

In FIGS. 1 and 2, a platen 1 is rotationally driven at a predetermined timing by a drive mechanism (not shown), and conveys a recording sheet 2 that is pressed into a predetermined range. A pinch roller 3 is disposed on the recording section side of the platen 1 in parallel with the platen 1 so as to be freely foldable, so that the recording sheet 2 can be pressed against the platen 1. Further, a paper guide 4 is disposed below the platen 1 so that the recording sheet 2 inserted from the back side of the recording apparatus is wound around the platen l.

A pair of guide shafts 5 are disposed on the front side of the apparatus parallel to the platen 1 with a predetermined distance therebetween, and a carriage 6 is movably supported on the guide shafts 5. The carriage 6 is driven by a drive belt (not shown) or the like, and moves along the guide shaft 5 to the right or left in FIG. An inkjet recording head 7 is mounted on the carriage 6 and moves together with the carriage 6. The recording head 7 has an ink chamber inside, and ink is supplied under pressure from an ink cartridge (not shown) mounted on the carriage 6 or a tank provided outside the carriage. A nozzle is formed at the tip of the ink chamber toward the platen, and ink droplets are ejected in response to vibrations of an electro-mechanical transducer provided in contact with the ink chamber.

and the platen 1, and rotate the platen 1 or press the paper feed button to expose the leading edge of the recording sheet 2 from the paper cutter 8. When the recording start button is then pressed, the carriage 6 moves in the width direction of the recording sheet 2 based on the recording information, and the recording pad 7 is driven to fly ink droplets onto the recording sheet, thereby performing recording. Further, the pump 13 is driven at the start of recording.
At the same time, the heater 12 is energized. As a result, hot air heated by the heater 12 is sent through the tube 11 to the conduit 10 in the paper cutter 8, and the hot air is blown from the discharge port 9 onto the ink-adhering surface of the recording sheet 2. This hot air quickly fixes the recording ink.

As is clear from the above description, according to the present invention, an ink fixing fluid is introduced into a plate-shaped body such as a paper cutter and a dust cover provided near the recording head on the discharge side of the recording sheet, and Since the spray is applied to the unfixed ink, the unfixed ink can be fixed quickly and there is no risk of staining the recorded image. Furthermore, since it is not necessary to provide a fixing device such as a heater in the recording section, it is possible to prevent the apparatus from becoming larger and to make it possible to visually check the image immediately after recording.
