Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the fixation of ink particles onto a recording medium and obtain a record of high resolution, by providing a hot-air blowing device near a platen so that the evaporation of ink is promoted by the hot air blown therefrom. CONSTITUTION:A hot-air blowing device 12 is provided above a platen 1 so that an air outlet 13 of the device 12 is disposed at a position remoter from a print head 7. The ink attached to a recording medium 11 is heated by the hot air blown out from the air outlet 13 to increase the evaporation speed of the ink, thereby making it possible to obtain a record of high resolution. For example, the hot-air blowing device 12 is provided with the air outlet 13 having a length corresponding to the carrier moving width so that all characters in one line printed on the recording medium 11 by the print head 7 are simultaneously dried. Moreover, a heat source 16 is provided in a blower tube 14 between a fan 15 and the air outlet 13, and a hot air is blown out from the air outlet 13 by rotating the fan 15.

In a drop-on-demand (DOD') W inkjet recording device, a platen and a print head face each other with a recording medium in between, ink is supplied to the print head, and ink particles are ejected from the nozzle tip toward the recording medium. When the print head of 7 is moved parallel to the platen, printing is performed at 7. FIG. 1 is a perspective view schematically showing a DOD type inkjet printing apparatus. Tin rockets 2 are fixed to both sides of the platen 1, and are rotated in the direction of arrow C by rotation of the drive shaft 3. Carrier 4 is guide shaft 5
and the feed screw 6, and the feed screw 6 is rotated by a drive motor (not shown). This rotation causes the carrier 4Fi to move along the platen 1 in the directions of arrows A and A'. The inkjet print head 7 is mounted on the carrier 4. The print head 7 is provided with a plurality of nozzles and a piezoelectric element for each nozzle to eject the ink supplied by the ink droplet 8 as particles, and the piezoelectric element synchronizes with the movement of the carrier 4. selectively driven. With this pressure, the carrier 40

Generally, in an inkjet recording apparatus, fixing of ink attached to a recording medium is performed by ink permeation into the inside of the recording medium and evaporation of an ink solvent into the air. 16. Therefore, in a recording medium with a high ink permeation rate, the degree of printing clarification will decrease. On the other hand, in a recording medium that can perform high resolution 111 degree recording, the permeation rate of Ink I is slow, and ink fixation is mainly caused by the ink solvent. (by evaporation). Therefore, when a recording medium capable of high-resolution recording is used in a conventional inkjet recording apparatus, a considerably long time is required for the ink to fix.

Therefore, in the present invention, as shown in FIG. 3, a small hot air blower ftt12 is provided in the vicinity of the platen 1 of the conventional DOD type inkjet recording device, for example, on the top of the platen 1. The air outlet 13 is located in the opposite direction to the direction in which the print head 7 is located, and the hot air blown out from the air outlet 13 heats the ink attached to the recording medium 11. FIG. 4 shows the hot air of the present invention. It is a front view showing an example of an air blower.

In the figure, the hot air blowing device 12 is provided with a blowing port 13 (a groove in this embodiment) having a length equal to the width of the carrier movement so that one line printed on the recording medium 11 by the print head can be dried at the same time. Furthermore, in the air pipe 14,
A heat source (heater cape) 16 is provided between the fan 15 and the air outlet 130, and the fan 15 is rotated to blow out hot air from the air outlet 13.

Since the diameter is 60 to 1100 Aφ, if wind or the like hits from outside while the ink particles are flying, the flying direction of the ink particles will be disturbed and the printing quality will be degraded. Therefore, the air outlet 1 of the hot air blower 12
The direction of 3 is opposite to the direction in which the print head 7 is located as shown in FIG.

By increasing the temperature of the recording medium, the ink fixing time could be shortened. The ink fixing time for the recording medium (1) at room temperature was about 20 minutes on average for alphanumeric characters, and about 50 minutes on average for solid black. In addition, the ink fixation time for recording medium ■ is approximately 40 seconds on average for alphanumeric characters, and 60 seconds for solid black.
It was about seconds. Here, the recording medium (2) absorbs ink more easily into the recording medium than the recording medium (I), and the spread of dots and smearing on the surface are large. When printing on medium ■, the ink was almost completely circular and the dot spread was about 1/2 that of recording medium ■, making it possible to record high-resolution characters such as kanji.

Furthermore, as shown in FIG. 6, the dot diameter on recording medium I remained almost constant even when the temperature of the recording medium increased. In this apparatus, the temperature of the recording medium was set to 70°C and recording was performed, and as a result, the recording medium 1. In both cases of Il and I[l, print quality comparable to that obtained when recording at room temperature was obtained.

The required ink fixing time is v! The structure of the brass device may vary.
In the case of color recording compared to monochromatic recording, a shorter fixing time is required. It is desirable to select a recording medium and change the temperature setting value of the recording medium according to these requirements. In order to maintain the temperature of the hot air blower 12 at a predetermined temperature KM, the temperature of the recording medium 11 is measured by a detector 17 as shown in FIG.
The temperature of the hot air is detected by the temperature control circuit 18 through the feedback system. The temperature of the hot air is controlled by the temperature control circuit 18 using the heat source 170 described above and a harmonica heater for warm air (heating amount 200W) consisting of 1 POSISTOR and the air flow rate of 2m/S. When the temperature of the blown air was about 100° C., similar ink fixing effects were obtained.

The present invention has been made according to the embodiments described above, and according to the present invention, a hot air blower is provided at a position near the platen.
By using the apparatus in which the ink particles attached to the recording medium are blown out, a recording result with a high degree of resolution can be quickly fixed by the hot air blown out. Compared to conventional DOD type inkjet recording devices, it has a great effect of being able to perform recording with higher resolution.
