Abstract

PURPOSE:To effectively prevent generation of a sheet camber by offsetting either of upper and lower rolls from an initial set position to the progressing direction of the sheet when said camber arises. CONSTITUTION:The upper press roll 3 is mounted on a carriage 5 and is provided movably in the progressing direction of the slab by a fluid pressure cylinder 8. A camber quantity signal is generated from a camber quantity detector 12 when the camber arises. The pressures of cylinders 6, 9 of the press rolls 3, 4 are detected by pressure detectors 17, 18 simultaneously therewith and a pressure deviation signal is outputted from a comparator 19. The sheet camber quantity signal and the pressure deviation signal are inputted to an arithmetic control unit 13 which calculates the offset quantity to prevent the camber. The upper press roll 3 is offset to the right by means of a servo valve 21 in the case of the upward camber and to the left in the case of the downward camber, by which the sheet camber is effectively prevented.
