Abstract

PURPOSE:To attain preventive maintenance by which selection mistake is avoided, application time is reduced and the fault of the software is prevented by selecting a software maintenance data automatically attended with each computer system. CONSTITUTION:A maintenance data input means 1 reads a selection condition data 10 and a maintenance data 11 stored in a maintenance medium 5 independently of the system constitution. A system constitution information storage means 2 consists of a magnetic file or a memory element, a selection means 3 compares a selection condition data 10 inputted from the maintenance data input means 1 with constitution information stored in the system constitution information storage means 2 and only a maintenance data 11 other the data 11 in which the both are dissident is given to an application means 4. Then the application means 4 applies the maintenance data taken over from the selection means 3 to the software to execute the maintenance. Thus, the software maintenance data is selected efficiently.

In the conventional software maintenance data selection method described above, the operator selects the necessary data based on documents and inputs it into the computer system for maintenance, which can lead to selection errors and furthermore, when there is a large amount of maintenance data, it is difficult to input it. The disadvantage is that it requires a lot of time from preparation to injection.

The software maintenance data selection method of the present invention includes: an input means for inputting maintenance data consisting of selection condition data and maintenance data from an external storage; a system configuration information storage means for storing system configuration information of a computer system to be maintained; a selection means for determining a combination of maintenance data necessary for the computer system to be maintained from selection condition data in the maintenance data inputted by the input means and the system configuration information; and maintenance determined by the selection means. The present invention is characterized by comprising input means for inputting data into the computer system that performs the maintenance.

Selection condition data 10 is attached to each unit of maintenance data, and the creator of the maintenance data 11 includes the following in the selection condition data 10:
The structural requirements of the computer system into which the maintenance data 11 must be input are defined. The maintenance data input means 1 reads selection condition data 10 and maintenance data 11 stored on the maintenance medium 5 regardless of the system configuration.

The system configuration information storage means 2 is composed of a magnetic file or a memory element, and stores configuration information of each computer system. The selection means 3 compares the selection condition data 10 inputted by the maintenance data input means 1 with the configuration information stored in the system configuration information storage means 2, and selects matching data other than maintenance data 11, which do not match. Only the maintenance data 11 is passed to the input means 4. The input means 4 inputs the maintenance data delivered from the selection means 3 into the software and performs maintenance.
