Conventionally, absorbent cotton, which is an aggregate of short fibers, has been used to absorb and remove water such as saliva in the oral cavity during dental treatment, to secure space for the treatment, and when chewing. It is used by cutting it into pieces or rolling it, and in order to omit the above-mentioned processing operations, cut cotton that has been cut into an appropriate size in advance or cotton that has been processed into a rod shape is also used.

However, in the conventional methods mentioned above, in the case of absorbent cotton, it must be cut into an appropriate size or rolled up each time it is used, and cut cotton does not function well for cleaning the oral cavity. However, there is a large amount of fuzz and fibers remaining in the oral cavity, and in the case of stick-like cotton,
Although this is an improvement over cut cotton and absorbent cotton, adhesives such as carboxymethyl cellulose, which are used to prevent surface fluffing and provide shape retention, are water-soluble, so they can be eluted by saliva, etc. As a result, fibers may remain in the oral cavity or become entangled with treatment tools. For this reason, to prevent fuzzing and fibers remaining in the oral cavity, approximately half of the outer periphery of the cotton rod is covered with a moisture-repellent film, and thin threads are spirally wound around the outer periphery (
(Japanese Utility Model Publication No. 59-21178), or a mixture of cotton-like pulp and powdered superabsorbent material is wrapped in a water-permeable, heat-sealable outer skin, and both ends are secured (Japanese Utility Model Publication No. 59-21178). 60-7708), but in the former case, the constituent fibers are easily removed from between the fine filaments, and in the latter case, there is less fibrous material remaining in the oral cavity, and there is no effect on the exclusion effect during water absorption. Although this method is excellent, it is not suitable for continuous high-speed production because both lengthwise ends are fixed by means such as heat sealing.

The present invention improves the drawbacks of the prior art described above, and provides a rod-shaped absorbent material for the oral cavity that has high moisture absorption and removal performance during dental treatment, has few fibers shed into the oral cavity, and is highly productive. It is something to do.

The fiber aggregate used in the present invention includes acetate,
Single or mixture of two or more crimped long fibers from the group of rayon, polyester, polypropylene, acrylic, absorbent cotton, polyester cotton, rayon cotton, polypropylene cotton,
Single or a mixture of two or more short fiber slivers from the acrylic cotton group, pulp, one or two or more short fibers of cotton, hemp, polyester, polypropylene, acrylic, and rayon made into sheets, bulb fibers Examples include those formed by adhesive into a sheet shape or a circular rod shape. In addition, water permeable tapes containing heat-fusible fibers include single low-melting point fibers from the group of polypropylene, polyester, polyethylene, and nylon, or fibers containing low-melting point components in a composite of two or more types, or vinyl chloride and vinyl acetate fibers. The fibers made from the copolymer are cut into short fibers and then made into paper to make a narrow tape, or after being made into paper, it is embossed and made into a sheet, which is made into a garden material, 6, or a spunbond or dry non-woven fabric. It is possible to use a tape made of a thin cloth or a tape made of a woven or knitted fabric containing the above-mentioned fibers. Here, the heat-fusible fibers can be used alone or in combination with other fibers, but if the content of the heat-fusible fibers in the tape is less than 10% by weight, the adhesive strength will be weak, which is undesirable. % or more, preferably 20% or more.

The absorbent material of the present invention is provided by winding a tape having heat-sealing properties and water permeability around the outer periphery of a fiber aggregate, and forming a tape overlapping portion, or a tape overlapping portion and an outer circumferential surface of the tape and fiber aggregate. Although it is possible to heat-seal both the contact parts with the tape, it can also be manufactured by heat-sealing at least the overlapping parts of the tape to form a long rod-shaped body, and then cutting it into a predetermined length. The sides of the aggregate are covered with water-permeable tape, and since only the water-permeable tape comes into contact with the inside of the oral cavity, the constituent fibers do not fall off, and the moisture in the oral cavity is taken up into the fiber aggregate by capillary action. This ensures sufficient water absorption properties, and since no adhesive is used, no adhesive components will be eluted into the mouth.

1) +T commercially available roll cotton (hereinafter referred to as comparative product) was placed horizontally in a petri dish filled with water to a depth of half its diameter, left to stand for 5 minutes, then taken out, and its water absorption properties were investigated. It is shown in Table 1. Here, the water absorption capacity is expressed as the weight after water absorption divided by the weight before water absorption, and the hardness before water absorption is the height from the bottom surface when the sample is placed horizontally and a load of 300 J' is applied from above. , is expressed as the value divided by the height from the bottom surface before applying the load, multiplied by 100, and the hardness after water absorption is:
The height from the bottom when a load of 3007' is applied from above to the sample taken out from the Petri dish after standing still for 5 minutes is the height from the bottom of the sample before water absorption is applied. The divided value is multiplied by 100.

Table 1 [Effects of the Invention] As described above, the present invention not only has excellent water absorption ability as an oral absorbent material, but also has excellent morphological stability when wet, as shown by hardness, and does not cause the constituent fibers to fall off. In addition, since no adhesive is used to impart shape stability, there is no elution of these materials, making the rod-shaped absorbent material easy to use and highly productive.
