Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a brazing filler metal having good corrosion resistance and low m. p. by specifying the compsn. of the brazing filler metal for joining ceramics and ceramics or ceramics and metal. CONSTITUTION:The brazing filler metal is composed of 40-80% Au, 2-24% Ag, 1-40% Cu, <=10% Zn, and <=10%>=1 kinds among Ti, Zr, Ta, and Nb. The corrosion resistance is assured by using Au as the essential component. The joining temp. is confined to about <=1000 deg.C by incorporating Ag, Cu and Zn into the compsn.

Conventionally used Ag-Cu-Ti and Al-5i have the disadvantage of being corroded by salt water, artificial sweat alkali, acid, etc. Although TiNi is resistant to corrosion, it has the disadvantage that the bonding temperature is as high as 1200°C or higher, and the ceramic binder melts. Therefore, the present invention aims to solve these conventional disadvantages. Good corrosion resistance and a bonding temperature of 1000'C or less.
The purpose is to provide brazing filler metals.
