PURPOSE:To improve the yield and quality of a product through elimination of incomplete quenching, by selecting a suitable water sprinkle travel pattern from among water sprinkle patterns predetermined based on the data detected on wind direction and wind velocity around a quenching tower and travelling a quenching car according to the pattern. CONSTITUTION:In conducting water sprinkle quenching of red-hot coke carried on a quenching car, wind direction and wind velocity around a quenching tower are previously detected, and water sprinkle travel pattern are set. A suitable pattern is selected from the water sprinkle travel patterns as set above, and the quenching car is travelled within the quenching tower according to the travel pattern.
