PURPOSE:To prevent oscillation of a spindle, by connecting a drive shaft of a generator with a resistance load and fixed with respect to a machine tool to a spindle of the machine tool. CONSTITUTION:When a spindle 1 of a machine tool is rotated by a driving motor 4, the spindle 1 drives a generator 8 directly connected to it. The driven generator 8 produces an induced motive power depending on a magnitude of a field current and supplies a current to a resistance load 10. With the arrangement, torque necessary for power generation acts upon the spindle 1 as a viscosity resistance. A magnitude of the viscosity resistance can be easily regulated by changing the field current and/or the resistance load 10 of the generator 8. The addition of such a viscosity resistance prevents oscillation of the spindle 1 caused by the driving motor 4, whereby a cutting performance of the machine tool can be greatly improved.
