Abstract

PURPOSE:To minize the shadow of a reference white plate and to suppress the lowering of the quantity of light in the vicinity of the reference white plate by providing plural round holes in the plate. CONSTITUTION:The reference white plate 7 is provided by making use of a part of the original reading range of a CCD image sensor 6, and a part of image signals generated by the reading is allocated to a reference white color data. A beam of light radiated from a fluorescent lamp 2 is reflected by an original 1, polarized by a mirror 3, condensed by a lens 5, thereafter detected by the CCD image sensor 6. And plural round holes and open in the reference white plate 7.

<Prior art and problems> As a method for reading images with shading, a reference white plate serving as a white reference is provided in the image reading window located in the front of the document, and
When reading the image, the reference white board is also read along with the original.
A method has been proposed in which a read image is divided into gradations based on the detection level of the reference white plate. However, in the conventional method, the reference white plate is installed to fill the window frame in the image reading sub-scanning direction using a part of the image reading window, and the shadow of the reference white plate due to the irradiation of the fluorescent light is cast on the document. occurred in
A decrease in the amount of reflected light from the document surface occurred near the reference white plate. Therefore, since there is a shadow even though the data is actually white, the shadowed portion on the document is detected as black data.

In view of the above-mentioned problems, the present invention aims to suppress the decrease in the amount of light near the reference white plate by minimizing the shadow caused by the reference white plate.

Means for Solving the Problems> The present invention provides a grayscale image comprising an image reading window provided on the front side of a document to be conveyed, and a reference white plate provided within the document reading range of the image reading window. The image reading device is characterized in that the reference white plate is provided with a plurality of circular holes.

<Embodiment> FIG. 1 is a perspective view showing an outline of an image reading apparatus showing an embodiment of the method of the present invention. 1 is a document, 2 is a fluorescent lamp that irradiates light onto the document 1, and 3 is an image reading window provided in front of the document 1. 4 is a mirror that deflects the light reflected from the original 1; 5 is a lens that focuses the deflected light; and 6 is a COD image sensor that detects and photoelectrically converts the focused light. A reference white plate 7 according to the present invention is provided using a part of the original reading range of the COD image sensor 6, and is assigned as reference white data to a part of the image signal to be read. That is, the light emitted from the fluorescent lamp 2 is reflected by the original 1 and deflected by the double chain 3, and after being focused by the lens 5, it is detected by the COD image sensor 6. At this time, the reference white plate 7 is also irradiated with the light of the fluorescent lamp 2 and is read by the COD image sensor 6 together with the image data. Since FIG. 2(a) shows the shape of the reference white plate according to the present invention, the Ji12 i'A white plate 7 has a plurality of circular holes. FIG. 2(b) shows an example of detection when a document with no image is read by the COD image sensor 6 using the reference white plate 7 according to the present invention. The horizontal axis is the reading width, and the vertical axis is the detection level, the broken line is the conventional one, and the solid line is the present invention. Area A is a portion where the reference white plate of the present invention is provided, and the level of B is the basic white level. In other words, Figure 2 (
As can be seen from b), the present invention suppresses the decrease in the amount of light to the image detection area caused by the reference white plate compared to the conventional method.

<Effects> As described above, according to the present invention, by providing a plurality of circular holes in the white substrate, the occurrence of shadows caused by the reference white plate can be minimized, and a decrease in the amount of light near the reference white plate can be suppressed.
