Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a small-sized, simplified device by removing residual toner after forming a latent image. CONSTITUTION:A photosensitive body 1 is charged electrostatically and uniformly by an electrostatic charger 2 according to its rotation and then exposed to a light image 3 to form a charge latent image. At this time, the electrostatic charging and exposure are carried out in a preliminary image formation cycle while a small amount of toner remains on the photosensitive body 1. Then, the blade 4 provided in the developing device 5 slides on the surface of the photosensitive body 1 to scrape off the residual toner. The removed toner falls in the developing device 5 and is reused. Then, the photosensitive body 1 is conveyed while attracted to a developing roll 7 and contacts a rotating developer 6 to attract toner particles to the charge latent image, which is developed. The toner image developed on the photosensitive body 1 is transferred 9 to recording paper 8. At this time, a little toner which is not transferred remains on the photosensitive body 1. The toner image transferred to the recording paper is fixed eventually. Then, the photosensitive body 1 is irradiated by a lamp and charges remaining on the photosensitive body are removed.

Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 59-2062 describes a device for developing with toner particles).
As described in the above publication, after a toner image is transferred to a transfer member, the toner remaining on the recording member is removed by a cleaner, and then a latent image is generally formed. In this case, the device is complicated, which has been a bottleneck in making it smaller and cheaper. As a means to solve this problem,
As in Japanese Patent No. 4436, a proposal has been made in which the developing device is also used as a cleaner, but in this case, the operation is unstable and unreliable.

FIG. 1 shows an embodiment of a recording apparatus to which the present invention is applied. A photoreceptor 1, which is a recording medium, is uniformly charged by a charger 2 as it rotates, and then exposed to a light image 3 to form a charge latent image. At this time, charging and exposure are performed while there is a small amount of toner remaining on the photoreceptor from the previous image forming cycle. Subsequently, a blade 4 provided in the developing device 5 is slid on the surface of the photoreceptor to remove all remaining toner. The removed toner falls into the developing device and is reused. Next, the photoreceptor is attracted and conveyed to a developing roll (magnetic roll) 7, and a rotating developer (two-component magnetic developer or one-component magnetic toner, etc.) 6
The toner particles come into contact with or come close to the charge latent image, and the toner particles are attracted to the charged latent image and developed. The toner image developed on the photoreceptor 1 is transferred onto a recording paper 8, which is a transfer member, by a transfer device 9. At this time, some toner that is not transferred remains on the photoreceptor. The toner image transferred to the recording paper is finally fixed. Subsequently, the photoreceptor is irradiated with lamp 1 to remove any residual charge on the photoreceptor. According to this recording method, a cleaning mechanism for removing residual toner can be provided on the developing device side.
By integrating the developing device and the cleaner, it is possible to realize an apparatus that has the advantages of reusing removed toner, suppressing toner scattering within the device, and improving maintainability by consolidating the developing device and cleaner in one place.

FIG. 2 explains a developing method suitable for the recording method of the present invention. This method, which performs charging in the next image forming cycle, cleaning after light image exposure, and development, can be applied to both regular development, which develops charged areas, and reversal development, which develops uncharged areas. As shown, better effects can be obtained with reversal development. That is, in the case of reversal development, residual charges can be safely erased with the erase lamp 10 in a place where there is no residual toner. In charging, the photoreceptor is charged even when toner passes through it, so the charging is affected by the toner.Furthermore, in the next exposure, there is a low probability that areas with residual toner will be exposed, and even during exposure, The influence of the presence of toner can be reduced. In this way, the uniformity of the charging voltage Vs on the surface is good, and the recording latent image can be reliably recorded. The residual toner has a good surface voltage Vs uniformity, the charged polarity and the toner polarity are the same, and the toner can be easily removed.
When the developing method is a magnetic brush, the cleaner can be removed so easily that it is not necessary. Therefore, it can be cleaned.

Furthermore, in the case of reversal development, by setting the development bias voltage VB lower than vs, it is possible to completely eliminate the influence of the afterimage charge pattern slightly generated by residual toner. VB is preferably 415 to 2/3 of Vs.

FIG. 3 shows another example of the configuration of the recording apparatus according to the present invention. A developing section is provided at the bottom of the drum, and the toner scraped off by the blade 4 is stirred with developer by stirring fins 11 in the developing device and reused.

FIG. 4 also shows another embodiment. Developer 5KId7
A printing roll 13, a conveying roll 12, and a developing roll 7 are provided. Both rotate while carrying developer and slide on the drum surface. These rolls are magnetic rolls if the developer is magnetic. With this configuration, the cleaning roll does not provide a developing action, but rather is used to remove residual toner from the contact area between the photoreceptor and the developer.
1) In other words, in the case of reversal development, the voltage applied to the bias should be lower than the voltage applied to the development roll, or the polarity should be opposite to that of the voltage applied to the development roll. , for regular development, make it larger than that of the developing roll.

FIG. 5 shows another embodiment. The residual toner removing means in this embodiment includes a fixed magnet (-14) installed in the drum.
Using the magnetic force of the magnet bar 14, the magnetic particles 15 (for example, a carrier of a two-component developer) are completely attracted to the drum surface, and the sliding force of the magnetic particles 15 is utilized. Compared to the blade cleaner method shown in FIG. 1, this method has the advantage of allowing rougher mechanical precision and less damage to the drum. In this configuration,
In order to prevent magnetic particles from being directly attracted to the magnet bar 14 when the drum is attached and detached, the drum and the magnet bar are integrally constructed.
It is preferable to make it possible to attach and detach at the same time.
