In a magnetic tape device, running of the tape between two reels is performed by one or two capstans. In this case, the tape is crimped onto the capstan and runs as the capstan rotates.
Such position adjustment for capstan alignment must be performed to minimize the skew between each track on the tape medium, but conventionally, position adjustment for capstan alignment is performed by sequentially moving the tape by the capstan. The capstan alignment adjustment screw was adjusted using a screwdriver so that the tape aligned with the edge of a predetermined guide. Furthermore, the alignment between the tape and the edge of the guide was checked visually.

However, different tape media have different skews between tracks due to their characteristics. Therefore, it is preferable to adjust the position of the capstan alignment each time each tape is loaded, but according to the conventional method described above, manual adjustment is required each time, and furthermore, the adjustment accuracy varies from person to person. There is a problem.

The purpose of the present invention is to adjust the capstan alignment position automatically after loading the tape, based on the concept of adjusting the position of the capstan according to the static skew between the end tracks of information near the tape, for example, the BOT marker. The object of the present invention is to eliminate manual labor and individual differences in adjustment accuracy, and to solve the problems in the conventional methods described above.

以下、図面により本考案の実施例を説明する。 Embodiments of the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings.

In the figure, 1 is a skew detection unit that detects skew between both end tracks of a tape medium, and 2 is a capstan alignment adjustment unit that adjusts the position of capstan alignment 3 in accordance with the skew detected by detection unit 1. Department. A capstan 31 is fixed to the capstan alignment 3, and the position of the capstan alignment 3 is adjusted by rotating adjustment screws 24-A and 24-B.

In the skew detection section 1, the tape medium is 9
In the case of a channel, the read head 11-A and amplifier 12-A of the first track are connected to one input of the phase difference detection circuit 13, while the read head 11-B and amplifier 12-B of the ninth track are connected to one input of the phase difference detection circuit 13. It is connected to the other input of circuit 13.
That is, the phase difference detection circuit 13 indicates a skew between the tracks at both ends. The output signal of the circuit 13 is integrated by an integrating circuit 14 and becomes a control signal for the capstan alignment adjustment section 2. Further, in the adjustment section 2, the drive circuit 21-A or the drive circuit 21-B operates depending on the level of the output signal of the integrating circuit 14. Each drive circuit 21-
A and 21-B rotate motors 22-A and 22-B, thereby rotating gears 23-A and 23-B. As a result, adjustment screws 24-A, 24-
B rotates and the position of the capstan alignment 3 is changed. The result of this change is fed back to read heads 11-A and 11-B. Therefore, the output of the phase difference detection circuit 13 is “0”.
, that is, until the output of the integrating circuit 14 becomes "0", the capstan alignment 3
The position will be adjusted. Note that such position adjustment may be performed by reading information close to the BOT mark on the tape medium.

As explained above, according to the present invention, the position of the capstan alignment can be automatically adjusted after loading the tape, which eliminates manual labor and individual differences in adjustment accuracy, and eliminates the problems of the conventional method described above. It is useful for solving problems.
