Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve performance to realize a high recording density by providing an interface signal which informs that the positioning operation of a magnetic head is in process to a magnetic head positioning controlling and driving circuit. CONSTITUTION:As soon as the positioning operation, that is, the seek operation of a magnetic head 4 against a magnetic disk is started, a step signal that is as the interface signal to inform that the operation is in process is inputted from an interface input terminal 1. A reception circuit 2 receives the step signal, that is, a seek instruction and outputs it to a magnetic head positioning control ling and driving circuit 4. The magnetic head positioning controlling and driving circuit 4, receiving the step signal from the reception circuit 2, outputs a signal that represents that the seek operation is in process to a transmission circuit 5, and simultaneously, drives the magnetic head 4, making it perform a precise positioning.
