Abstract

PURPOSE:To give fault information of own section to other section by utilizing each the 8th bit of a flag F and a ringer signal Sig of each frame comprising a signal of each channel and using the bit as other section information. CONSTITUTION:If a fault takes place at a terminal station section 51 between a PCM terminal equipment 1 and a branching relay device 5, the 8th time slot note 1 of the flag F and the ringer Sig is used to send the number and fault information of the own system to a branch relay section 55 of the branch relay section 5. The relay section 55 uses similarly the 8th time slot note 1 of the flag F and the ringer Sig to send the fault information to the terminal station sections 52, 53, 54. The terminal station section 52-4 receive the fault information from the relay section 55, superimposes the section information causing a fault for the 8th time slot of the flag F and the ringer Sig and sends respectively to opposite PCM terminal stations 2-4. Thus, the generation of a fault between the PCM terminal station 1 and the terminal station section 51 is communicated to the PCM terminal stations 2-4 at the outside of the section.

Conventionally, in small-capacity PCM systems including branch repeaters, alarm information, etc., was transferred between opposing stations, but other information was not transferred, and information was transferred from stations that were not opposing. Since information on other sections cannot be received, complete information on other sections is not available. This improvement was strongly desired.

However, in the conventional small-capacity PCM system, although alarm signals are communicated between opposing devices, they are not communicated to other devices. That is, PCM terminal equipment 1
- The alarm signal between the terminal station 51 remains within this section and is not communicated to equipment in other sections, such as pcM terminal station equipment 2.3.4, etc., so other sections do not know the situation other than their own section. There was a drawback that there was no such thing.
