The opening upper part of the exhaust passage communicating with the inside of the cylinder of a two-cycle engine is opened and closed to change the timing of communication between the inside of the cylinder and the exhaust passage by a piston slidably inserted into the cylinder. An exhaust timing control device, which is swingably attached to the upper part of the exhaust passage near the opening, and has a control surface at a swinging end thereof having approximately the same curvature as the inner surface of the cylinder; a first control valve that opens and closes the upper part of the opening to change the position of the upper edge of the opening; and a first control valve that is slidably provided on the cylinder wall above the first control valve along the moving direction of the piston; and when the first control valve is swung to the position where it closes the opening, it enters between the upper edge of the control surface of the first control valve and the upper edge of the opening and closes the gap between them. 1. An exhaust timing control device for a two-stroke engine, characterized in that the first control valve and the second control valve are mutually hinge-coupled.
