When storing the spare tire in the engine compartment,
Conventionally, as shown in Japanese Utility Model Publication No. 48-29089, for example, a spare tire has been placed horizontally on the tire seating area in the engine chamber and fixed by tightening a large thumbscrew or the like. Therefore, it cannot be said that the configuration is such that the spare tire can be easily and quickly stored or taken out.

Further, a hood stay device is provided in the engine chamber to maintain the hood in an upright position during engine inspection and maintenance work. This hood stay device uses rod-shaped stays as support rods to maintain the upright position of the hood, but such stays do not exhibit any function or effect during normal use of the automobile, that is, when the hood is closed. It is well known that this is not the case.

In view of these current circumstances, the present invention allows the spare tire to be held during normal use of the vehicle, the hood to be kept in an upright position during engine inspection and maintenance, and furthermore, the spare tire can be stored and taken out easily and quickly. The purpose of the present invention is to provide a spare tire holding device that can be used both as a hood stay and a spare tire holding device that can be used efficiently. A support member and a latching bracket are arranged oppositely to the spare tire placed on the vehicle body member, sandwiching the tire therebetween, and one end of the spare tire is pivotably supported on the support member and the other end thereof is rotatably supported on the support member. It consists of a holding bar that can be hung on a hanging bracket, and a locking part provided inside the engine hood. The holding bar is rotatable, and the holding bar is provided at a position to press the top surface of the mounted tire downward and hold the tire in place when the other end is hooked to the hanging bracket. It is a spare tire holding device that also serves as a hood stay.

In the drawings, FIG. 1 is a diagram schematically showing the front part of an automobile equipped with a spare tire holding device that also serves as a hood stay according to the present invention, and numeral 1 indicates an engine compartment and numeral 2 indicates an engine hood. A tire seating portion 3 is formed inside the engine compartment 1, and a spare tire 4 is placed horizontally on this portion as shown.

In the present invention, a support member 6 and a latching bracket 7 are respectively opposed to a vehicle body member 5 such as a suspension tower in the figure, which is located laterally to the spare tire 4 placed thereon, with the tire 4 interposed therebetween. and is located slightly below the upper surface of the tire 4. As shown in the figure, one end of a holding bar 8 is rotatably supported on this support member 6 . The holding bar 8 is made of a flexible steel rod or the like, and is longer than at least the distance between the supporting member 6 and the locking bracket 7. Inside the engine hood 2, there is a structure that can hold the other end of the holding bar 8, that is, the free end 8' when the hood 2 is erected, to maintain the erected posture of the hood 2 as shown in the figure. Locking portions 9 are provided at appropriate locations.

Here, when the other end 8' of the holding bar 8 whose one end is pivotally supported by the support member 6 is rotated and latched to the latching bracket 7, the supporting member 6 and the latching bracket 7 are As described above, since the holding bar 8 is located slightly below the top surface of the spare tire 4, the holding bar 8 presses the top surface of the tire 4 downward, and the spare tire 4 can be damaged even by vibrations during driving. The tire 4 is stably, quickly and easily held on a predetermined tire seating part 3 without moving. The width of the tire 4 increases slightly by increasing the air pressure, but this can be compensated by the flexibility of the retaining bar 8. When the type of tire 4 is a radial tire or the like and the width of the tire is different, or when holding a flat tire that has lost its air, etc., the tire width is changed to absorb and hold the changing tire width. As clearly shown in FIG. 2, it is preferable that the latching portion 7' of the latching bracket 7 is formed in a plurality of steps so that the latching position can be moved up or down in accordance with the width of the tire.

When the engine hood 2 is erected during engine inspection and maintenance, etc., the holding bar 8 is rotated and the other end 8' is attached to the locking part 9 on the inside of the hood 2, as shown by the dotted line in FIG. The hood 2 can be held in an upright position by being engaged with the hood 2. The position of the locking part 9,
Of course, by changing the length of the holding bar 8, the standing angle or opening degree of the hood 2 can be adjusted. In this case, the holding bar 8 is different from a conventional hood stay that stands up from a radiator panel (not shown) and engages with the hood 2;
There is nothing that gets in the way when you look inside.

As described above, according to the present invention, the spare tire can be easily and quickly held in place by simply hooking the holding bar, and the holding bar can also be used as a hood stay, which can also reduce the number of parts. This can bring about various effects such as weight reduction and cost reduction.
