In an outboard motor in which a swivel case of a propulsion unit is connected to the upper part of a stern bracket fixed to the hull so as to be tiltable in the vertical direction, a straight line is formed on one side of the swivel case to insert a free end between the case and the stern bracket. A lock lever is pivotally mounted via a horizontal pivot, and a lock claw engages with the free end of the lock lever to prevent rotation of the lever when the propulsion unit is rotated to a predetermined tilt-up position. 1.
