一般に、胎児の発育度、すなわち体重や胎児の
成長日数(妊娠日数)は胎児の頭径に対応してい
ると考えられている。そのため従来超音波診断装
置を用いて胎児の超音波像を表示し、この画像か
ら物差しなどで胎児の頭径を計測し、あらかじめ
作製された胎児の頭径と発育度との関係を示す表

専用メモリ(ROM)9には、あらかじめ各頭径
に対応するアドレスに体重や胎児の成長日数など
の胎児発育度情報が書き込まれている。前記演算
回路8で求めた頭径が指定するアドレスを読み出
すことにより対応する発育度情報の読み出しがな
される。こうして読み出された発育度情報はキヤ
ラクタジエネレータ10を経て文字、数字または
記号の信号とされ、表示装置4に送られて表示面
41上に胎児の超音波断層像42とともに文字や
数字、記号の形で、例えば超音波断層像42の下
