In the electronic pattern generation method, the pattern to be placed at which position on the knitted fabric is memorized for the entire length of the entire course, but if the pattern is memorized in this way, the basic pattern may be transformed. If you want to change the handle position, you must correct your memory for the entire course, such as the new handle or the position to place the handle. Furthermore, a storage device with a large storage capacity is required, which is uneconomical.

Therefore, in the method of the present invention, three types of memories are inputted into an arithmetic control circuit: a basic pattern, a pattern layout in which the basic pattern is memorized where on the knitted fabric, and a pattern development in which the basic pattern is suitably modified. The present invention is characterized in that the output is input to a needle selection drive circuit including a pattern needle selection output circuit to operate a needle selection actuator of a knitting machine.

In the method of the present invention, three types of decomposed information, ie, basic pattern, pattern arrangement, and pattern development, are input using perforated tape, but it goes without saying that input methods other than perforated tape may also be used. Perforated tape is commonly used and marks whether it has a pattern or not depending on the presence or absence of perforations at predetermined positions.

For example, when a pattern as shown in FIG. 1 is used as the basic pattern 10, basic pattern perforations 2 are punched in the tape 1 as shown in FIG. A start mark 3 and a stop mark 4 are attached before and after the basic pattern perforation 2. The tape 1 punched with this basic pattern is read by a reader 51 (Fig. 5) driven by a drive circuit 71, and the signal is inputted to a discrimination circuit 54 via a reading circuit 52, an interface circuit 53, and a discrimination circuit. At step 54, it is determined that the input is a basic pattern, and the input is stored in the storage circuit 55.

To record the pattern placement, it is sufficient to determine at which wale position in each course the basic pattern is to be placed. Assume that the pattern arrangement shown in FIG. 3 is adopted. With a knitted width of 13 wales A to M, the basic pattern shown in Fig. 1 is arranged in the third well C and the ninth well I from the left side of the knitted fabric.

For example, in the case of a developed pattern 100 as shown in FIG. 4, the pattern development is memorized by perforating the pattern development tape 201. The data to be stored in the pattern development tape 201 includes clear, current status, addition,
There are subtractions, etc., and these are replaced with numerical values such as clear...0, current status...1, addition...3, subtraction...5, etc. When it is clear, the signal is to stop pattern development, and the signal is to indicate that the current status is the same as the basic pattern of the previous wale. For addition, the signal is the next basic pattern one step forward, and for subtraction, the signal is the basic pattern one step before. . The developed pattern shown in Fig. 4, that is, the basic pattern shown in Fig. 1, has a horizontal part that extends horizontally in the middle of the oblique side of the triangle, and when it ends, it rises to the top of the triangle, and from the top, the basic pattern triangle When a developed pattern is formed with a hypotenuse symmetrical to , the basic pattern extends from wale D to wale F, and from wale G to wale I, the basic pattern is inverted and decreased. The developed pattern 100 shown in FIG. 4 is C of the third course.
It starts with Wale. C, D in the third course
The pattern arrangement and basic pattern signals are used for the wale, the pattern arrangement and current pattern development signals are used for the E wale, the pattern arrangement and clear signal are used for the F wale, the pattern arrangement and basic pattern signals are used for the G wale, and the signals of the basic pattern are used for the H and I wales. Each pattern is knitted by pattern placement and pattern development subtraction signals. The fourth course is D-Wale pattern placement and basic pattern signals,
E-Wale signals the current status of pattern placement and pattern development, F-Wale clears pattern placement and pattern development, G-Wale signals pattern placement and basic pattern, H-Wale subtracts pattern placement and pattern development, and the 5th course is G-Wale. The developed pattern 100 is knitted based on the respective signals of pattern arrangement and basic pattern.

In the above pattern development, when transforming the basic pattern and forming a horizontal part by stretching the basic pattern horizontally at a specific wale of the basic pattern, insert the current signal on the pattern development tape while contrasting with the basic pattern, and When the part is finished, the clear signal returns to the basic pattern. Based on the basic pattern signal, the remaining part of the hypotenuse is traced and when it reaches the top, it descends down the hypotenuse using the subtraction data on the pattern development tape to form one pattern. I'm trying to finish it. The pattern placement tape has only two types of perforations, 0 and 1, so it can also be used as a pattern development tape.
A pattern development perforation is provided at a lower level corresponding to the position of the pattern arrangement tape 1. Of course, the pattern placement tape and the pattern development tape may be provided separately.

During knitting, a carriage (not shown), which is a part of the knitting mechanism 56, starts moving in response to a start signal, and a detector 57 provided on the carriage
The needle pitch is detected by The needle pitch detection circuit 58 is actuated by the signal that detects the needle pitch, and the signal from the circuit 58 is sent to the memory circuit 55 via the interface circuit 59 and the arithmetic control circuit 60, and based on the input, the pattern arrangement memory is stored. When the pattern arrangement memory signal outputs 1 to the arithmetic circuit, the arithmetic circuit sends a signal to the memory circuit 55 to output a basic pattern signal, and the memory circuit 55 outputs a basic pattern signal of 1. Get out. At the same time, the memory circuit 55 outputs a signal for pattern development if pattern development is necessary, and the arithmetic control circuit 60 integrates these instructions and outputs it to the pattern needle selection output circuit 61, which output is sent to the interface circuit 59, needle selection A needle selection actuator 63 is actuated via a drive circuit 62 so that knitting needle selection can be performed in synchronization with the movement of a carriage, which is a part of the knitting mechanism 56.
