The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a polyurethane resin hardball practice ball. Traditionally, hardball baseball balls (hereinafter referred to as hardball baseballs) officially used in professional baseball, high school baseball, Little League, etc. are made of white horsehide with thread wrapped around a core of cork, rubber, or a similar material. Alternatively, it is made by wrapping two pieces of cowhide and sewing them together in a ganji-like manner. Because it is made in this way, the density of the ball,
Properties such as rebound resilience are determined by how tightly the core material and thread are wound, and ensuring uniform quality is an important issue for ball manufacturers. In addition, many steps are required, such as winding a thread around the core material, wrapping it with two pieces of horsehide or cowhide, and sewing it together, which increases equipment costs and labor costs, making the ball expensive. On the other hand, for those who use hardball baseballs, the ball is relatively expensive, and because the ball is wrapped in horsehide or cowhide and sewn together, the surface is easily scratched and the seams of the ball can tear or otherwise become damaged. Due to their short usage period, hardball baseballs wear out rapidly. Various attempts have been made to solve the drawbacks of making products more uniform, lowering prices, and improving durability. For example, Japanese Utility Model Application Publication No. 118268/1983 describes the use of polyurethane-based liquid thermosetting synthetic resin materials. It is described that a synthetic resin baseball ball can be obtained by integral molding. However, the synthetic resin baseball ball obtained from the same publication sufficiently satisfies the performance equivalent to hardball baseballs, such as the sound of the hit when hit by a batter with a bat, the feel left in the hand, and flight distance (resilience). The reality is that it is not a thing. The present inventors have conducted extensive research to solve the above-mentioned drawbacks, and as a result, have arrived at the present invention. That is, in producing a hardball practice ball using a polyfunctional polyol, a polyisocyanate, a crosslinking agent, a catalyst, and a foaming agent, (a) a polyfunctional polyol with a hydroxyl value of 20 to 100;
and a di- to tri-functional polyether polyol, (b) diphenylmethane diisocyanate as the polyisocyanate, (c) a low-molecular polyhydric alcohol, a low-molecular amine compound, or a hydroxyl value of 400 to 1200 as a crosslinking agent. At least one compound selected from alkylene oxide adducts of the low-molecular polyhydric alcohol or low-molecular amine compound is used, and the polyisocyanate has an NCO/OH equivalent ratio or an NCO/OH + NH 2 equivalent ratio of 0.90 to 1.30. , a method for producing a polyurethane resin-based practice ball for baseball, characterized in that the crosslinking agent is used in an amount of 5 to 40 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of the polyfunctional polyol. The polyfunctional polyol used in the present invention has a hydroxyl value of 20 to 100, preferably 25 to 70, and 2
- trifunctional polyether polyols and mixtures thereof. If the hydroxyl value is less than 20 or more than 100, the hitting sound and flight distance will be inferior to hardball baseballs. When the functional number is 4 functional, 6 functional, and 8 functional,
The flying distance decreases, and a ball that is of practical use cannot be obtained.
Examples of diphenylmethane diisocyanates include diphenylmethane diisocyanate, liquefied diphenylmethane diisocyanate, and urethane prepolymers containing terminal isocyanate groups obtained by reacting polyether polyol with diphenylmethane diisocyanate. Polyisocyanates other than those mentioned above, such as toluene diisocyanate and xylene diisocyanate, are inferior to hardballs in impact sound and flight distance. Next, as a crosslinking agent, use a low-molecular polyhydric alcohol, a low-molecular amine compound, or a hydroxyl value of 400 to 1200.
Examples include at least one compound selected from the alkylene oxide adducts of the low-molecular polyhydric alcohol or low-molecular amine compound. Examples of low-molecular polyhydric alcohols include ethylene glycol, diethylene glycol, triethylene glycol, propylene glycol, dipropylene glycol, tripropylene glycol, 1,4-butanediol, 1,3-butanediol, pentanediol, and hexane. Examples include low molecular weight diols such as diol, low molecular weight triols such as glycerin and trimethylolpropane, low molecular weight tetraols such as pentaerythritol and diglycerin, sorbitol, and sugar. Examples of low-molecular amine compounds include monoethanolamine, diethanolamine, triethanolamine, aniline, ethylenediamine, diethylenetriamine, phenylenediamine, and tolylenediamine. Examples of the alkylene oxide to be added to the low-molecular polyhydric alcohol and/or low-molecular amine compound include ethylene oxide, propylene oxide, butylene oxide, and styrene oxide. These crosslinking agents are important elements to meet the performance objectives of the present invention, such as impact sound, flight distance, etc.
If the crosslinking density is low, the hitting sound will be dull without the metallic sound characteristic of hardball baseballs, and the ball will fly too far compared to hardball baseballs. If the crosslinking density is high, the hitting sound will be too strong a metallic sound characteristic of hardball baseballs, and the flight distance will be insufficient compared to hardball baseballs. Catalysts used in the present invention include known catalysts used in urethane production reactions, such as amine-based and metal-based catalysts, and blowing agents include known blowing agents such as Freon-11, water, or mixtures thereof. etc. Regarding the compounding ratio in the production of the polyurethane resin practice ball for hardball baseball of the present invention, the hydroxyl value
20 to 100 and 2 to 3 functional polyether polyol, crosslinking agent, and diphenylmethane diisocyanate have an NCO/OH equivalent ratio or NCO/
OH+ NH2 equivalent ratio 0.90-1.30 preferably 0.95-1.10
Blend in the following proportions. The crosslinking agent is used in an amount of 5 to 100 parts by weight of a di- to trifunctional polyether polyol with a hydroxyl value of 20 to 100.
40 parts by weight, preferably 10 to 25 parts by weight. The catalyst is blended in a known amount. In addition, the blowing agent has a hydroxyl value of 20 to 100 and 2 to 3
For 100 parts by weight of functional polyether polyol
Add 0.05 to 15 parts by weight. The polyurethane resin practice ball for hardball baseball of the present invention is manufactured by a known method. For example, at a predetermined blending ratio, the hydroxyl value is 20~
After mixing liquid A consisting of 100% di- to trifunctional polyether polyol, crosslinking agent, catalyst, and blowing agent and liquid B consisting of diphenylmethane diisocyanate, the surface is sewn to have an uneven surface similar to that of a hardball baseball. Pour into a mold with a matching pattern, foam and solidify. After curing in the mold for a predetermined time, the polyurethane resin baseball practice ball is taken out from the mold. In the case of the polyurethane resin practice ball for hardball baseball of the present invention, the overall density is 0.5 to 1.0 g/cm 3 , preferably 0.7 to 0.8 g/cm 3 . The polyurethane resin practice ball for hardball baseball produced in the present invention has a fine-celled urethane layer inside and a non-cellular skin, and is very similar to a hardball for baseball.
In addition, the polyurethane resin practice ball for hardball baseball of the present invention has no seams, so unlike hardball balls, the seams do not tear and become unnecessary, and it is water resistant, which is the biggest drawback of leather balls. Not only is it extremely durable and can be used for a long time, but
Since it is manufactured in large quantities using molds, it is uniform and inexpensive. Examples are given below. The compounds and test methods used in Examples and Comparative Examples are as follows. (1) Compound A Polyol P-1: a hydroxyl value of 37, a bifunctional polyether polyol P-2: a hydroxyl value of 56, and a trifunctional polyether polyol P-3: a hydroxyl value of 22, and a bifunctional polyether Polyol P-4: a hydroxyl value of 22, and a trifunctional polyether polyol P-5: a hydroxyl value of 75, and a bifunctional polyether polyol P-6: a hydroxyl value of 84, and a trifunctional polyether polyol P-X: Diphenylmethane diisocyanate millionate MTL: liquid diphenylmethane diisocyanate (manufactured by Nippon Polyurethane Industries, Ltd.) C. Crosslinking agent K-1: 1.4-butanediol K-2: Trimethyl roll Made by adding propylene oxide to propane, the hydroxyl value is 790.
Compound 2 Catalyst Dibutyltin dilaurate Foaming agent Daiflon R-11U (manufactured by Daikin Industries, Ltd.) (2) Test Flight distance: A polyurethane resin hardball practice ball was shot from a height of 3.95 m at a height of 61 cm 2 and a thickness of 5 cm. 1.39 to 1.44 m of repulsion force was marked as ○, and those other than those with a vibration were marked as ×. Yellowing: ○ If there is little change after 200 hours of irradiation with a sunshine weather meter
Those with many changes were marked as ×. Hit sound: 10 baseball team members hit a polyurethane resin hardball practice ball pitched at a constant speed from a batting machine (model BM-1 manufactured by Zett Co., Ltd.).
I had people hit each person 10 times. If the impact sound at that time is compared with the impact sound when hitting a hardball baseball ball, and the evaluation that they are the same is 85% or more, it is marked as ○.
Cases of less than 85% were marked as ×. Feeling when hit: 10 baseball team members were each asked to hit a polyurethane resin hardball practice ball 10 times at a constant speed, which was pitched from a batting machine. The feel when hitting the ball was compared with the feel when hitting a hardball baseball ball, and if the evaluation that they were the same was 85% or more, it was marked as ○, and when it was less than 85%, it was marked as ×. Example: Mix liquids A and B according to the proportions shown in Table 1, add to a mold heated to 40°C with a stitched pattern with uneven surfaces similar to those of a hardball baseball, and cure for 15 minutes. . A polyurethane resin hardball practice ball was taken out of the mold, left for more than 24 hours, and then tested. Note that a comparative example was also conducted in the same manner. The results are shown in Table 1.
