BACKGROUND ART Conventionally, a radiator used for cooling an engine such as a motorcycle has a flat shape, and its size is determined depending on the amount of heat dissipation required by the engine. However, in motorcycles and the like, the engine, muffler, etc. become obstacles, so there is a limit to the space in which the radiator can be installed. When such obstacles exist, the radiator is mounted at an angle with respect to the vehicle body to avoid such obstacles. However, this poses a problem in that the amount of air taken in is reduced, the so-called vehicle speed utilization rate is lowered, and the cooling efficiency is lowered.

Purpose of the invention This invention was made to solve the above-mentioned problem. Even though the installation space is limited on motorcycles, etc., the radiator can be installed without any inconvenience, and therefore the space can be used effectively. This makes it possible to make motorcycles, etc. more compact, and also allows the cooling pipes to be aligned reliably, without causing variations in the spacing between adjacent cooling pipes on the left and right, and improving overall strength. To provide a radiator which has a very large amount of air intake, has a high so-called vehicle speed utilization rate, has very good cooling efficiency, and can improve the design appearance of a motorcycle, etc. It is an object.

In the drawing, the radiator according to this invention is
A pair of flat cooling pipes 1 and 2 that are integrally provided with a large number of tongue-like fins 3 on both left and right sides and arranged in parallel in the front and back are set as one set, and a required set of cooling pipes 1 and 2 are arranged horizontally with respect to each other. The cooling pipes 1 and 2 of each set are both bent in a concave manner with respect to the front air intake side A.

Each of the cooling pipes 1 and 2 is made of a flat aluminum hollow extrusion with a substantially rectangular cross section, and has two cooling water channels 4 separated by a partition wall 5. The front walls 6 of the cooling tubes 1, 2 have a dogleg shape in cross section and protrude outward, and the rear walls 7 have a dogleg shape in cross section and are concave inward. In each set of cooling pipes 1 and 2, one concave rear wall 7 and the other convex front wall 6 are joined to each other so that they are difficult to shift from each other. Note that these rear wall 7 and front wall 6 are not brazed. Further, the cooling pipes 1 and 2 may be arranged in parallel and bent at the same time, or the cooling pipes 1 and 2 may be bent separately and arranged in parallel one after the other. Furthermore, since the convex-concave fitting of the side walls 6, 7 on the connecting side of the cooling pipes 1, 2 which are adjacent in the front and rear is relative, the rear wall 7 of the cooling pipe 1 has a convex shape, contrary to the case shown in the figure. Of course, the front wall 6 of the cooling pipe 2 may have a concave shape.

On both the left and right sides of each cooling pipe 1, 2, a large number of tongue-like fins 3 are formed in parallel in the length direction by cutting the pipe material, and each fin 3 has a slit in the center of its length. 8 is provided, and is divided into front and rear halves, and the tip 3a of each fin 3 is bent into a hook shape when viewed from the front. Mutually adjacent sets of cooling tubes 1, 2 have their tongue-like fins 3
are arranged so that the tip portions 3a of the two are butted against each other. In addition, since the tip 3a of the fin 3 is bent into a hook shape in this way,
When the cooling pipes 1 and 2 of each set are arranged in parallel on the left and right and combined, the fin tips 3a facing each other
They do not mesh with each other, making assembly easy. Further, by abutting the tips 3a of the tongue-like fins 3 facing each other in this way, there is no gap between them, and therefore the radiator is strong against external forces such as vibrations.

In other drawings, reference numeral 9 denotes an upper tank that connects the upper ends of the cooling pipes 1 and 2, and an inlet pipe 11 is connected to this. A lower tank 10 connects the lower ends of the cooling pipes 1 and 2, and an outlet pipe 12 is connected to this lower tank. 1
Reference numeral 3 denotes a pair of side plates attached to the left and right sides of the radiator, which are composed of arcuate strips when viewed from the side, and the tips 3a of the tongue-like fins 3 on both the left and right sides are brought into contact with the inner surfaces of these plates. ing.

In the above embodiment, flat tubes with a substantially rectangular cross section are used as the cooling tubes 1 and 2, but the cooling tubes 1 and 2 may be one integrally equipped with a large number of tongue-shaped fins 3. For example, tubes with other cross-sectional shapes can also be used. In addition, a so-called vertical radiator is shown in which tanks 9 and 10 are attached to both upper and lower ends of cooling pipes 1 and 2 that have vertical cooling water passages 4, but this design has horizontal cooling water passages. 4 cooling pipes 1,
The present invention is similarly applied to a so-called horizontal radiator in which tanks 9 and 10 are attached to both left and right ends of the radiator.

Effects of the invention As mentioned above, the radiator according to this invention has the following features:
A set includes a plurality of cooling pipes 1 and 2 that are integrally provided with a large number of tongue-like fins 3 and arranged in parallel in the front and back. Among the side walls 6, 7 on the connection side of the mutually adjacent cooling pipes 1, 2, one side wall 6 is convex and the other side wall 7 is concave.
7 are fitted together, each set of cooling pipes 1,
Both cooling pipes 2 are bent in a concave state with respect to the front air intake side A, and since each set of cooling pipes 1 and 2 are arranged in plural numbers, each set of cooling pipes 1 and 2 is Since it can be bent, it is possible to make effective use of the restricted space in the body of a motorcycle or the like, where there is no obstruction from the engine, etc., and it is possible to make the motorcycle or the like more compact. In addition, since the side walls 6 and 7 of the cooling pipes 1 and 2 adjacent to each other in the front and back of each set are connected by concave-convex fitting,
The cooling pipes 1 and 2 can be reliably aligned,
There is no variation in the spacing between adjacent cooling pipes on the left and right, so the air flow is stable.
The cooling performance is excellent, and the strength of the radiator as a whole is extremely high due to the concave and convex fitting of the side walls 6 and 7, making it durable against external forces such as vibrations. Furthermore, since the cooling pipes 1 and 2 are bent in a concave manner with respect to the air intake side A, the amount of air taken in is larger than when a conventional flat-shaped radiator is installed in an inclined position, which is the so-called vehicle speed utilization factor. The cooling efficiency is very high. In addition, since the cooling pipes 1 and 2 are integrally provided with a large number of tongue-like fins 3, thermal conductivity is extremely good.
This has the effect that the cooling efficiency is further increased and the radiator itself can be made more compact. Furthermore, since the radiator is bent, when it is attached to a vehicle body such as a motorcycle, there is an advantage that the design looks better than when a conventional flat-shaped radiator is attached.
