Cherry bark work is the bark of wild cherry blossoms (hereinafter referred to as cherry bark).
It is carefully polished and carefully attached to a base material, and its color and strength are a gift from nature, and its luster increases as it is used, and it also has the characteristic of preventing moisture from drying out. It is also called Kaba-zuri-zaiku, and items made using traditional techniques are recognized as traditional crafts. Cherry bark has a dark brown color that gives it a dark feel, so there is a limit to how much it can be made into crafted items, but by adding bright colors to this, it is expected that the range of crafted items will expand. For this purpose, first, the polished cherry bark was superimposed and glued together with glue, then hot-pressed and then cut diagonally, so that a richly varied pattern appeared on the surface of the veneer obtained. However, I was unable to obtain bright colors. Generally, it has been attempted to obtain a veneer with a rich variety of colors by superimposing and gluing a transparent veneer and a colored veneer and cutting them diagonally, but such an attempt has not been made for cherry bark. Therefore, this invention
Taking advantage of the fact that the surface layer of cherry bark is a tough, glossy, but semi-transparent material, the back of the cherry bark is made so that it has enough transparency to pass through the reflected light of the colored veneer that is bonded to the backing. The desired processed cherry bark is obtained by removing and polishing the cortical layer, and then adhering the polished cherry bark and colored veneers in alternating layers, hot pressing, and cutting into the desired shape.

In other words, the outer skin layer of cherry bark is a tough, glossy, and translucent material as described above, but the back skin layer is a rough and opaque material, so the color monochrome that is glued to the back skin layer is The reflected light from the board is removed to the extent that it can pass through, and a thin wooden veneer prepared in advance and colored in bright colors such as white, red, and yellow is glued to the back side.
Multiple sets of cherry bark and colored veneer are glued together and cut diagonally to expose a wide area of each cherry bark and colored veneer, and the surfaces are sometimes polished to give them a rounded surface. This allows each layer of cherry bark and colored wood to form a richly varied pattern.

To explain with an example, polished cherry bark 1 and pre-dyed wood veneer (0.2-0.1 mm aged wood) 2 are cut to a certain size, and adhesive (glue) is applied to both the front and back of the wood veneer. or chemical adhesive) and overlap it on the back side of polished cherry bark 1. A plurality of sets made in this manner are stacked one on top of the other, and polished cherry bark is pasted on the back side of the bottommost wooden veneer, and the pieces are housed in a strong frame 3 (Fig. 1). In the embodiment shown in FIG. 2, adhesive is applied to both the front and back sides of a wooden veneer, which is then rolled up onto the back side of the polished cherry bark 1 to form a cylindrical shape, which is then stacked and stored in a strong frame 3. A hot plate (high frequency) is applied to the top and bottom of the frame 3 to be housed in the frame 3, pressure is applied to the upper hot plate, the frame 3 is pushed into the frame 3, and the entire frame is crimped and fixed. The fixed parts shown in Figs. 1 and 2 are in the form of a block shown schematically in Fig. 3, so they can be removed from the frame 3 and line A-A' or B.
- Cut along line B' and use as processed material. In the above, a relatively thick dyed material may be used instead of the dyed wood veneer 2. When the above-mentioned processed material is placed on a flat plate and the surface is polished into an oblong hill shape, the uppermost layer of the processed material is Cherry bark 1 and wood veneer 2 remain in the center along the curved surface of the cone. The ring-shaped periphery of the remaining central portion a is a wood veneer 2, and within that periphery is cherry bark 1 reflecting the color of the wood veneer 2. The next layer of cherry bark 1 and wood veneer 2 appears on the outer periphery of the central portion a. The periphery of the exposed outer periphery b is the wood veneer 2, and the inside of the periphery is hidden by the central part a. Similarly, the lower layer of cherry bark and wood veneer in the processed material appears in a ring shape due to the curved circular cone. Because the thickness of the cherry bark 1 and the wood veneer 2 in each layer of the processed material is not equal, and there are differences in hardness, the processed material does not form into multiple horizontal layers when compressed within the frame 3. Since the processed material is polished into a circular cone shape, each ring appears as an irregular ring. In the case of the processed material cut along the line B--B' in Fig. 3, a striped pattern as shown in Fig. 4 appears, and in the case of the processed material shown in Fig. 2, small rings are not concentric but scattered and a complicated pattern appears. And the rings of cherry bark are dark;
The rings of the wood veneer appear bright and their boundaries are clear, and this example exhibits a distinct pattern suitable for obi clasps and loop ties.

As mentioned above, this invention is characterized in that layers of various colors are interposed in the laminated layers of cherry bark.
