Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent letters from blurs and a paper sheet from stains even if pencil written manuscripts are inserted, by making a roller rotating in the opposite direction to the feed direction of the paper sheet and a frictional pad contact with a belt. CONSTITUTION:A drawing-out roller 3 bears against the central front edge of stacked paper sheets 2 and rotates to feed out the paper sheet 2 in the direction of the arrow. The fed-out paper sheet 2a is inserted into the contact portion of a belt 8 with a roller 13 and further into the contact portion of the belt 8 with a frictional pad 14. Since the belt 8 comes in contact with the roller 13 and the frictional pad 14 in the tensioned portion of the belt 8, the contact force is small so that the force acting on the inserted paper sheet 2a is small. Thus, while the paper sheet 2a advances in the contact portions of the belt 8 with the roller 13 and the frictional pad 14, the underside paper sheet of the advanced paper sheets 2a engages sequentially the frictional pad 14 so that only the uppermost paper sheet passes through.

1. Prior Art and Problems Conventionally, paper separation devices of various structures have been used in paper feed devices of printers and copying machines. Among these, those with a structure that separates paper by passing it between a friction surface that moves in the paper feed direction and a friction surface that blocks the paper feed, provide stable separation regardless of the paper quality of the paper used. It is characterized by its ability to function. 4 and 5 are diagrams showing conventional devices having this type of structure, and the one in FIG. 4 shows a nip portion 43 between a roller 41 rotating in the feeding direction of the paper 2 and a friction pad 42 that comes into contact with the roller 41. The paper is separated by passing the paper 2 through the fifth
What is shown in the figure is a belt 8 that rotates in the feeding direction of the paper 2.
The paper 2 is passed between the friction pad 14 and the friction pad 14 that is in surface contact with the friction pad 14.

Incidentally, in OCR, a pencil-written original is sometimes supplied, but in the structure shown in FIG. 4, the paper is rubbed under the strong pressure of the nip 43 in line contact. When inserting a document written in pencil, the characters may become blurred or the paper may become smudged. In addition, in the structure shown in FIG. 5, the sliding force against the paper is relatively small, but the paper 2a is in the third position between the belt 8 and the friction pad 14.
As shown in the figure, there is a risk that the second sheet of paper will be dragged out while paper feeding continues, resulting in double feeding.

1. Purpose of the Invention This invention was made with the aim of solving the above-mentioned problems that occur when a paper separating device of conventional structure is adopted in an automatic paper feeding device for OCR. To provide a paper separating device that does not cause blurred characters or stains on paper even when the paper is fed, and there is no possibility of double feeding occurring even if paper feeding operations are continued.

Means for Accomplishing One Object - The present invention provides a paper separating device that uses a belt 8 as a means for applying frictional force in the paper feeding direction, in which a roller rotating in the opposite direction to the paper feeding direction is attached to the belt. 13 and the friction pad 14, the roller 13 is placed on the paper entry side of the friction pad 14, and the roller 1
The roller 13 and the friction pad 14 are brought into contact with the belt 8 at the stretched portion of the belt 8, that is, the portion between the pulleys 10 and 11, so that a nip portion is not formed between the belt 8 and the friction pad 4. It was placed in

One effect is that in the paper separating device of the present invention, the second and subsequent sheets of paper 2a that have accumulated between the friction pad 14 and the belt 8 as shown in FIG. 1, and since no nip is formed between the belt 8, roller 13, and friction pad 14, no strong sliding force is applied to the paper.

With the above configuration, when the side guide 29 is moved in accordance with the paper width, the upper and lower units 20 and 21 of the paper separation device
moves in the same direction as the side guide 29 by 1/2 the amount of movement, and feeds out roller 3, paper separation belt 8, and roller 13.
Furthermore, the friction pad 14 can always be positioned at the center of the paper 2, and tilting of the paper can be avoided, especially when feeding wide paper.

Next, the paper feeding operation of the above-described apparatus will be explained. The feed roller 3 contacts the center of the front edge of the stacked paper 2 and
The paper 2 is sent out by rotating in the direction of the arrow in the figure. The fed paper 2a is inserted into the contact area between the belt 8 and the roller 13, and further inserted into the contact area between the belt 8 and the friction pad 14. The belt 8, the roller 13, and the friction pad 14 are the stretched portion of the belt 8 (the portion between the pulleys 10 and 11).
Since the contact force is small, the frictional force acting on the inserted paper 2a is also small.

Therefore, the paper 2a enters the contact area between the belt 8, the roller 13, and the friction pad 14, but the roller 13 is rotating in the direction to send back the paper below the paper 2a, and the belt 8 and the friction pad Since the paper 2 is in contact with the paper 14 at a certain distance in the paper feeding direction, the paper 2 that has entered the contact area

4, and in the end only the top one passes through. In order to perform this paper separation effect more reliably, it is preferable that the frictional force of the roller 13 against the paper is smaller than the frictional force of the belt 8 and larger than the frictional force between the sheets.

When the sheet of paper 2b that has passed is caught between the paper feed rollers 5 of the OCR, the frames 17 and 18 are moved upward around the upper leg movement axis 12 by a mechanism not shown in order to release the paper feed load. The feeding roller 3 and belt 8 are separated from the paper 2a. As a result, the frictional force in the feeding direction for the second and subsequent sheets of paper that has entered between the belt 8 and the friction pad 14 is released, and the second and subsequent sheets are moved to the paper tray by the frictional force in the return direction that is applied from the roller 13. You will be sent back up to 1.

Therefore, in the device of the present invention, the belt 8 of the sheet separating device
Paper does not stay between the pad 14 and the friction pad 14.
Further, since the roller 13 and the friction pad 14 are in contact with the belt 8 at the stretched portion of the belt 8, the sliding force acting on the paper 2 is also small.

-Effects of the Invention- As is clear from the above description, the paper separation device of the present invention eliminates the risk of blurring characters or staining the paper even when the original is in a pencil case, and double feeding by continuous paper feeding is possible. There is no risk of this occurring, and the frictional load that acts on the fed paper is also eliminated, making it possible to feed the paper accurately. It is particularly useful as a paper separation device in an automatic paper feeder for OCR. A suitable device can be obtained.
