Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve a printing quality in a dot matrix system, by a method wherein a flying drip formed by being discharged from a recording head is made to reach the surface of an intermediate member, and the intermediate member is brought into contact with a recording member. CONSTITUTION:An ink liquid discharged from a recording head 1 flies as an ink drip and reaches and adheres to an intermediate member 3. By the rotation of a platen 2 in a direction of an arrow, a recording member 5 is transferred in a direction of an arrow A, and also the intermediate member 3 is rotated in a direction of an arrow. Accompanied with the rotation of the intermediate member 3, the ink liquid adhered on the intermediate member 3 is also rotated. Since the intermediate member 3 and the platen 2 are appropriately brought into pressure contact with each other with holding a recording member 5 between then, the ink liquid coming into contact with the recording member 5 is transferred from the intermediate member 3 to the recording member 5 due to the appropriate pressing force.

<Problems to be Solved by the Invention> When printing characters, the long-known matrix printing system requires a machine that is very expensive and difficult to maintain and inspect. Naturally, if there is no type printing, there is a problem that printing cannot be performed. Therefore, the dot matrix printing method is generally used because the device is inexpensive, high-speed printing is possible, and characters can be printed by freely changing the font etc. as long as the font is changed manually. However, since the characters are composed of a combination of dots, the lines forming the 4.1G characters are not smooth, resulting in a problem that the characters are not as beautiful as those using the matrix type type. In order to solve this problem, it would be possible to print with a smaller screwdriver, but this would create the problem of making the device expensive, and it would be difficult to obtain visually beautiful and good characters. Since it is necessary to construct characters using extremely small dots, the printing time may also be slow.

In FIG. 1, the recording head 1 is a full-line type head having an orifice corresponding to the entire image recording width. The ink liquid ejected from the recording head 1 flies as droplets 114L and lands on and adheres to the intermediate member 3.

As the platen 2 rotates in the direction of the arrow shown in FIG. 1, the recording member 5 is transferred in the direction of the arrow A, and the intermediate member 3 also rotates in the direction of the arrow. As the intermediate member 3 rotates, the ink liquid adhering to the intermediate member 3 also rotates. Since the intermediate member 3 and the platen 2 are in contact with each other with appropriate pressure with the recording member 5 sandwiched between them,
When the ink liquid comes into contact with the recording member 5, the ink liquid is transferred from the intermediate member 3 to the recording member 5 with an appropriate pressing force.

In the present invention, recording is performed in this manner. Therefore, the image (intermediate image) formed with the ink liquid deposited on the intermediate member 3 is generally an image in which the left and right sides are reversed. When obtaining a final image on the transparent recording member 5, it is not necessarily necessary to form the image as a horizontally inverted image.

The material of the portion of the intermediate member 3 to which the ink liquid adheres is selected appropriately depending on the type of ink liquid. As the material, for example, a member having a waste liquid property is preferable. However, the physical relationship between the ink liquid and the intermediate member 3 should be selected depending on the pressing force between the intermediate member 3 and the platen 2, ease of deformation, amount of deformation, transfer speed, amount of ink liquid attached, etc. good. Examples of the intermediate member 3 include silicone, rubber, metal, p, olM.
etc. can be used.

FIG. 2(a) shows an image when A is printed with 5×7 dots. With conventional printers such as wire tods, images with gaps between dots are recorded, making it difficult to obtain high-quality recordings.

Therefore, printing with smaller dots and higher dot density is shown in FIG. 2(b). Such images are generally achieved by inkjet recording devices capable of high-density printing. It can be seen that the image shown in FIG. 2(b) has fewer gaps between dots than the image shown in FIG. 2(a), resulting in a higher quality image.

FIG. 2C shows an image according to the invention. In the present invention, for example, after an intermediate image is first formed on an intermediate member using the recording head used to form the image shown in FIG. 2(b), the ink liquid on the intermediate member is In order to transfer the image, the ink liquid formed on the intermediate member collapses and spreads due to the speed to form an image on the recording member. Therefore, according to the present invention, as shown in FIG. 2(c), the ink liquid spreads even into the gaps between the dots and collapses the gaps, forming a single line, which is comparable to printed letters. It was possible to form extremely high-quality images.

When the surface of the intermediate member is made of a liquid-repellent material, the image formed on the intermediate member is formed by dots that are uniform in size due to surface tension, and the ink liquid spreads during transfer. An image is formed as a single line. Furthermore, even when the dots are properly wetted, even if the dots are connected on the clogged intermediate member, the image is formed as a single line by transferring the ink before it is completely dry.

FIG. 3 is a schematic perspective view for explaining another embodiment of the wooden invention. In FIG. 3, the parts indicated by the same numbers as in FIG. 1 are the same as in FIG. 1, and therefore their explanation will be omitted. The embodiment shown in FIG. 3 differs from the full-line type recording head shown in FIG. 1 in that it uses a serial scan type recording head 1'. The recording head 1' is arranged on a carriage 6 that moves on a sliding shaft 7.7', and recording is performed by the recording head 1.
This is effected by the left and right movement of ' along the sliding axis 7.7' and by the rotation of the intermediate member 3.

Note that in FIGS. 1 and 3, means for supplying ink to the recording head 1' are not particularly shown; Many supply methods can be used, such as a method in which a tank is housed and the supply pipe is supplied from there, a method in which the recording head 1, 1' itself has a tank, and in particular, a method in which the recording head 1, 1' is supplied without a supply means. However, since the method of supplying the ink liquid is not related to the wood of the present invention, the details will be omitted.
