Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain an image with excellent gradation and uniform dot density by finely moving a recording head in ink discharge port arraying direction, and setting a predetermined interval for feeding a material to be recorded corresponding to the fine movement.
CONSTITUTION: Ink discharge ports are arrayed at a predetermined interval (a) on one line on a discharge surface 7A opposed to a recording sheet 2 of a recording head 7, and ink is discharged from the ports toward the sheet 2 to be recorded. A piezoelectric element 8 provided at the end of the head 7 finely reciprocates the head 7 at a predetermined timing and width in a direction of an arrow B by utilizing a piezoelectric effect. A feeding pitch 4 after a first raster, i.e., a first stage dot row recording is held at a/2 in the recording of the head 7. The element 8 is driven to finely move the head 7 rightward at a/2 in the dot recording of a second raster. The head 7 is again finely moved in a third raster. These operations are repeated to obtain a recorded image of the dots uniformly dispersed in high density.
