End tabs are used to contact both ends of the planned welding line of the base metal of the joint in order to minimize the welding excess length at the end of the weld bead. Previously, small metal blocks made of the same material as the base metal were used. However, in recent years, metal tabs have been replaced by cheaper and easier methods, as it takes time to manufacture metal scraps, attach them to the base metal, remove the end tabs after welding, and finish the end tabs after they have been removed. Refractory tabs are often used because they can be fabricated and are quick and easy to install and remove.

These refractory end tabs have the advantage that they can be easily manufactured into desired shapes. That is,
For example, production can be done by adding a suitable binder to slag powder produced by submerged arc welding, etc., and putting it into a mold of the desired shape and solidifying it, or by adding SiO 2 -MnO-CaO flux for 5 to 20 minutes.
It can also be manufactured easily and inexpensively by adding % of water glass, mixing it, forming it into a desired shape, and solidifying it in a CO 2 gas atmosphere.

The end tab of the present invention takes advantage of the characteristics of the refractory material mentioned above and is formed into a specially shaped end tab, with one side consisting of a flat surface A and a chamfered surface B at one end, and a trapezoidal concave surface or a curved concave surface C on the other side. The present invention relates to a refractory welding end tab that is characterized by:

1 and 2 are side views of the end tab according to the embodiment of the present invention, and FIGS. 3A and 3B are perspective views of the end tab shown in FIG. 1. In the figure, A is a plane provided perpendicular to the planned welding line of the base metal. B is the chamfered surface of one end. The angle θ between the A plane and the B plane is generally 5° to 30°. The opposite surface is a trapezoidal concave surface C whose both ends abut against a surface perpendicular to the planned welding line of the base metal. This trapezoidal concave surface may be formed into a curved concave surface as shown in FIG.

FIG. 5 is a plan view showing a joint for horizontal fillet welding when the widths of the column and beam are different, and as before, 2 is the beam, 3 is the wider column, 4 is the groove, 1 is the main end tab. In this case, the flat surface A of the end tab is brought into contact with a surface perpendicular to the planned welding line, and the chamfered surface B is made to face both ends of the planned welding line, and the bead at both ends of the fillet is beautifully finished. be able to.

Fig. 6 is a plan view A and a side view B showing a joint when the base metal and the backing metal are the same length in downward butt welding. 6 is the backing money, and 1 is the end tab of the present application. In this case, the end tab is installed so that the plane A of the end tab is in contact with the lower side of the end face of the planned welding line of the base metal, and the plane B of the chamfered part is positioned above. By applying it in this way, the arc is stabilized by preventing the shielding gas from escaping downward during welding of the first layer, and there is no dripping of the bead, and when the heat receiving surface of the end tab is a vertical plane, Sink defects in the finished bead that occur are prevented.

FIG. 7 is a plan view A and a side view B showing a joint when the backing metal is longer than the base metal in downward butt welding, and as in FIG. The bevel, 6 is the backing money, and 1 is the main end tab. In this case, the concave surface C of the end tab is provided so as to face the end surface of the planned welding line of the base material. That is, since the backing metal 6 is longer than the base metal, the shielding gas does not escape to the bottom of the concave surface during welding of the first layer, and the bead does not drip. Then, like the conventional concave grooved end tab,
Since a slight excess bead is allowed, sink defects in the finished bead are prevented.
