The present invention relates to a transparent label that can be written on with a general writing instrument such as a pencil. Conventionally, opaque paper labels have been used to attach to medical bottles, etc., but since the contents cannot be seen with such labels, it is difficult to see the growth status of bacteria in the culture medium or the amount of blood collected. It was unsuitable for labels on containers, such as bottles, whose condition must be observed. In order to solve this problem, we considered using a transparent synthetic resin such as polyester, such as Tetron (trade name) film, as the base material for the label. However, because the surface of this transparent synthetic resin film is smooth, when attempting to write necessary information such as patient name, classification number, or date of vaccination on the label, it is impossible to write with any writing instrument other than an oil-based ink pen. The drawback was that even when written with an oil-based ink pen, it easily came off. Conventionally, polyester films such as Mylar (trade name) have been commercially available with a matte finish on one or both sides, but it is not possible to make only the required areas matte. Furthermore, since the film itself curls, it cannot be used as a base material for labels, which is the object of the present invention. This invention is intended to solve the above problems.
To provide a transparent label that allows the contents of a bottle to be observed and that can be easily written on with a general writing instrument such as a pencil or a ballpoint pen. The writable transparent label of the present invention is printed on a predetermined portion of a base material made of a transparent synthetic resin film such as polyester using an ink made by mixing zinc oxide powder with white UV ink that dries with ultraviolet rays. It is characterized by forming a rough (matte) printed surface. In this case, the synthetic resin film serving as the base material of the label only needs to be transparent, and in addition to polyester film, polyvinyl chloride film or the like can be used. In general, printing inks contain synthetic resins, pigments, solvents, and various other additives.
It is said that it is preferable that the printed surface be smooth, have good printability, and not fade, but the label ink used in the present invention does not need to have a smooth printed surface. In addition, the color of the printed surface obtained with this label ink should be as light as possible, especially white, in order to make the written part stand out when writing on the surface, so white self-label ink is used. there was. The amount of zinc oxide powder to be kneaded is 2 to 4 parts per 10 parts of the ink.
A ratio of 10:3 is particularly preferred. Although it varies depending on the resin of the ink used, the resin content as a vehicle is preferably 15 to 20% by weight. As the resin for the ink vehicle, when the film is polyester, modified epoxy resin, acrylic resin, etc. are used, and when the film is polyvinyl chloride, modified vinyl acetate-vinyl chloride copolymer resin etc. are used in addition to the above resins. It is best to use a hardened type. Extender pigments such as calcium carbonate may be added to the ink as long as they do not impair the properties of the zinc oxide powder. Hereinafter, the present invention will be explained in detail with reference to examples. In order to obtain a rough printing surface, in addition to zinc oxide,
Studies were conducted using various inorganic compounds, such as calcium carbonate and titanium oxide, and varying the mixing ratio with the self-labeling ink. Example Zinc oxide powder was mixed with a commercially available white self-labeling ink in three ratios: (a) 10:1, (b) 10:3, and (c) 10:5, and then were kneaded in a roll mill to produce ink. Thereafter, as shown in the figure, a predetermined position of the Tetron film base material 1, that is, a hatched area 2, is printed with the obtained ink, and a text area (corresponding to the dotted line area) is printed with ordinary colored ink. After drying, the writing quality and printing condition were examined using various writing instruments, and the results are shown in the table below. Comparative example Calcium carbonate instead of zinc oxide powder (d)
3:1, (e) 2:3, and (f) 1:1 were mixed in the same manner as in the example, and the writing condition and printing condition on the obtained printed surface were examined, and the results are also shown in the table below. It was shown to.

[Table] As can be seen from the above table, printing with an ink containing zinc oxide powder at a ratio of 10:3 in a self-labeling ink gave satisfactory results in both writing quality and printability. Furthermore, if a scale 2' is imprinted on the end of the label as shown in the figure, the amount of blood to be collected can be checked at the time of blood collection, which is very convenient. As described above, according to the transparent label according to the present invention, it is possible to easily write on the label with a general writing instrument, and since it is possible to write in thin lines with a pencil or the like, it does not interfere with seeing through the contents. It can be used to label containers for various similar purposes, such as culture bottles.
